Video Looping mode confusion

Help me understand how it works/ is supposed to work.

The manual says
"The most recent footage is saved on the memory card, up to the number of minutes selected in step 2."

When I set to Loop 5minutes. It recorded a longer than 5min segment, followed by many 1min video clips of the entire drive.

When I set Loop 10 minutes. It recorded a 19min segment, followed by many 2min video clips spanning the entire drive.

Each time it seems like I *should* have had only a 5min and a 10min clip respectively.

Which FW version is this? I don't have an answer to this question, but I forwarded it to someone who hopefully does.

I might have figured it out.

Ran it again this morning, 5min Looping mode, started it and didn't touch it til I parked at work. It gave me 6 videos, spanning 5:41. Each video was 1min. That's not bad. I see how that would be an optimum way to keep up with video data. Camera records cutting every 1min, then when stopped it deletes all but the last 5ish mins worth of 1min chunks. Logical

Though the past time not sure why there was a 26minute chunk video in there. Maybe I was confused. Will continue to experiment.
