Update Your Video Drivers (Applies to older ATI graphics cards)

My workstation computer with ATI FirePro V4800 Driver Version 8.850.7.1000 was updated to the most recent driver version 13.152.4.0. A serious playback problem with VirbEdit where the entire computer froze no longer occurs.

If you are experiencing video playback problems and have an older AMD/ATI video card and driver, you might be able to solve the problem yourself by updating the drivers.

What do you think to a list graphic cards / drivers / virb edit versions from users .... with known good / bad ?
Might help spot patterns & point others with the same query in right direction ...

    laptops with switchable graphics cards

Not sure where to put this info... so I'll stick it here.

Just got a Virb Elite, took my first video and loaded up Virb Edit on my HP dv6t laptop. (meets minimum system requirements). Video card situation = Intel/Radeon 7690M XT. Videos would not playback within virb edit - the whole black screen + sound situation.

Went through a few hours of painful updated driver searches (nothing exactly exists from HP or Radeon), found some options, but all of them were dead-ends. Ended up having to re-install the original drivers.
Then I had an idea - was wondering if the Intel driver was being used instead of the Radeon (not switching over for Virb Edit). Within the Intel graphics dashboard there was no way to force the use of the Radeon, so i had to go into the BIOS and turn off the system's ability to switch it. Set it to "fixed" which seems to mean that on plug it uses Radeon, off plug it uses Intel.

    Viola, it works now (on-plug).

I could see that this might be a common problem for other laptops, not just the HP so just wanted to throw this info out there.

I used the NVIDIA control panel to add Virb Edit as one of the programs that will override the integrated graphics card and use the NVIDIA GTX860M instead. Still no go. Crashes when exporting video. Anyone with a link to 2.5? It worked just fine on this very laptop before.

    Does it work with 2.8?

If it doesn't please let us know and we'll work with you.

In the mean-time, you can find old installers at http://gawisp.com/perry/virb/.
