What's new

  • Added customizable gauges. You can now add, move and delete gauges.
  • Added a lot more gauges, temperature is now supported.
  • Added ability to save and reuse custom gauges.
  • Added ability to easily import tracks from attached Garmin mass storage devices.
  • Widened range for clip playback speed (from 0.125x to 8x, up from 0.25x to 2x).
  • Fixed some errant behavior for g-force gauges.
  • Fixed export for pace gauges.
  • Fixed some more export issues.
  • Fixed an issue where file or track import was not working.
  • Fixed an issue where settings changes where not remembered after upgrading VIRB Edit.

Known Issues

  • A few strings have not been localized into non-English languages. They will be in 2.4.
  • Exporting a video when the NONE template is selected does not work. Will be fixed in a 2.3.x maintenance release very soon.
  • There are still some export issues. We are planning to address more of them in 2.3.x as well.
  • Export quality is still not as good as we'd like. 2.3.x should improve things here as well.

Only the newly created thumnails for the newly created custum templates.
    Older template thumbs are OK.

Gotcha. The generated thumbnails will look a bit different than the stock ones, but the track should not be missing. We'll check that out.

OK 12 crashes total, I-7, Nvidia G force 745M, windows 8.1 Firmware 3.10. Will not render with custom Gauges, No options to send to you. Crash and then it closes. Deleted the Program, Re downloaded. Now it will render, and change the colors. But still giving a Standard Speed Elevation, and track. Crashes on anything else I try. Wish I could see the crash log. Will continue to do tests. Question. is there a specific template I need to use for custom Gauges? or an order I need to do this in? ie Template, gauges, appearance? I am still not sure if it is me doing something wrong, or if it is the software. Video was 4:53 long, set the Gauges, and appearance, saved that template, then edited the video to 1:29 trimmed left and right.

You should be able to start out with any template.

When you say crash, does it crash when you play it back? Or when you try to export / upload?
  • FALAGAR, would you please bring to the software development team the message that they did an outstanding job with this release, thank you. The level of improvement compared to the previous version and the timing in which they released the package has exceeded my (our?) expectations. Additionally, the fact that they have released at the same time the Win and the Mac versions (I am currently using both) is a great demonstration of professionalism.
Please also let them know: "keep going!"

    Thank you

Thanks, much appreciated! I'll walk around and give everyone a pat on the shoulder.

We are making good progress, but there is still a lot left to do.
  • Tried to export 2 videos this this morning after upgrading to this latest version. It crashed Virb Edit each time. So in effect this is worse than the previous version as I can't even get to the point of an Export Error message. The program just crashes and shuts down with no warning of any kind. One video was 6 mins long and the other was 17 mins long, on the 17 min long video I did get the 4Gb warning but proceeded anyway as I know its not that big.

Falagar will PM you with the error logs to review if thats ok?

The features you've added look great by the way, all of which adds to my pain in not being able to use it :-(

    Dex.
  • Ok, persisting with it despite its crashing, I've had the Export Error message once, after which its closed down again, on a 4 min video I was testing. All my efforts were in 1080 if it makes any difference.

I have tried to Export in 720 and 480 on this particular video but it comes up with the Export Error message. Didn't crash that time though. I've sent you a PM and have the Error Logs if you want me to send them to you PM me an email address.

So for me, this version is worse, I don't seem to be able to Export anything at all now, my "hit-rate" with the previous version was better. IMHO, fixing the Export issue needs to be your priority ahead of any other development of this software.

    *Big Sigh*

Where are the custom templates saved?

    EDIT: Found them :)

EDIT: Only found the Autosave version, not where the real template is stored.

EDIT: Now I've really found them and the corresponding thumbs

Have you add a GPX of FIT to your video?
Without it, there is no data to be shown in the overlays, so you will not be able to select one.

You should be able to start out with any template.

When you say crash, does it crash when you play it back? Or when you try to export / upload?

It will go to say 58% render, Thin windows pops up and states Virb editor has stopped working, Windows is looking for a solution.
On the ones it does get through I have selected custom gauges Speed, Accel/Braking. it renders and gives me a standard overlay of Speed, track, and elevation. will try some more tests today.
