Just bought a new Virb Elite. Went through setup, formatted the SD card, powered it off, and then awhile later when I went to turn it back on, it just displays "Garmin" on the screen and emits a very loud, annoying high pitched tone. I've tried letting it go for a minute or so and nothing happens. The only way I can get it to stop is by either removing the battery, or holding the power button for several seconds.
I've tried doing the factory reset (hold down arrow, press and release power button, wait for prompt) but i never get the prompt to do the actual reset. It just keeps screaming at me. I tried removing the memory card and reformatting on a Windows box, same deal.
One thing i noticed, after formatting, and going through the power up and scream cycle, if I remove the SD card and mount it on my computer, I can see that it created a directory \Garmin\System\Logs but there are no log files or any other files on the card. Wondering if it is having trouble writing to the card or something? The card is good, though, I was previously using it in a GoPro 3. One other weird thing I noticed was the dates on the directories are really weird... Jan 1, 2098!
Any suggestions on anything else I can try before I send this thing back? I did send an email to support but apparently they have a 3 day turnaround (not including weekends); given this is a brand new unit my inclination is to just exchange it but I'm hoping somebody knows some magic trick!
