Combining GPX Files

I'm pretty new to the Virb Elite (got it for Christmas), but have been using it a lot. I made a 54 minute video yesterday of a trail race I did, which of course I'd like to share in some fasion. Here's where I run into a few problems

1) It just plain won't export. After four hours, I get an export error....

2) If I try to import the files from my hard drive instead of directly from the Virb (apparently I have to have three video files for such a long recording, which is fine, but I can only manually apply one GPX file?)

I'm going to assume the export error is some inner demon that may be solved by using a different computer. However, my other computer runs me into problem #2, since THAT computer does not wish to recognize the Virb.

For now I've moved on to trying to use Movie Maker... also annoying because of how long it takes to import a file. Maybe I'll have better luck on my third (work) computer tomorrow.

EDIT: Just remembered I have Premiere Pro, so now exporting using that. MUCH quicker than Movie Maker or VIRB Edit. But.... no overlays :(

Concerning the export, did you try in the lowest quality?
I had the same issue in the best quality with Long Time videos but in other quality it is ok.

I second the suggestion to try to export at a lower resolution.

Are you running Windows 7? There is a 4GB max file size for the output video on Windows 7. (No such limit with Windows 8.)

In 2.3 we will put in a warning once we think that we might hit the 4GB threshold.

    My apologies for the trouble.
  • I was not aware of the 4 GB max.... will that ever be changed? That is probably why I am having the problem, I think the output file was around 7 GB.

Is Windows 8 any better for using Virb Edit? If so, I might just upgrade.

That limit is imposed by the Microsoft video library we are using, it just happens to have been improved for Windows 8.

Short of switching video libraries (which is something that might or might not happen) there is not much we can do on our end to change this.

Windows 8 is 3 years newer, so a lot of things have improved in that time, but it's also quite a change. I am very happy with it, but a lot of people are put off by the new interface.
