Insert GPS data

Hello,

As I'm only making some videos during my runs, I'd like to see the full run in the GPS map using the GPX issued of my edge 810. I can change in Virb Edit the gps datas and replace by my data but it has no effect. In my video it is always the gps map issued by the virb which is displayed. The only way I can be sure I did the right way is when I want to change the position or replace again the gps data, I see the map from my edge run.
But it never reflects in the virb preview nor in the exported video.

Am I missing something?

Currently VIRB Edit trims the track to the part of the video that you play.

Just to make sure I understand you correctly: let's say you did a 30min runs and now create a 2 minute video. You would like to see the full 30 minutes of GPS data in your 2 minute video?

If that is the case, having a long track and only making 2 min video.

This is a work around, make a video as long as the track you want to see in your overlay.
Synchronise the track and export the video.
Import the video in VIRB Edit again and export the part you really want without overlay.
Since you're cutting away all in front and all behind the part you want, it doesn't matter what video you use as a filler.

In fact I did a 4 hours track in which I only recorded 11 minutes of videos in 8 small videos. I wanted to make a video of 11 minutes but showing the full GPS track issued from my edge device.

    Hope this is clearer

I think the workaround will work althoug it means a lot of work and it will take a lot of time.

See at what time (from the beginning of your track) your first clip starts.
Fill in the time until the beginning of your first clip with a dummy video (any video will do, it just has to be the right length)
See when the second clip starts and make a dummy video as long as the gap between your first and second video.
When you have a total of 4 hours, start building your video of dummy's and clips.
    Export the movie without overlay.
Now you have a movie of 4 hours long, with the clips starting at the correct time and dummy's in between.
The next step is to import this 4 hour video and export it again WITH the overlay you want.
Import this video with overlay and make a new movie with it.
Use the split and cut left/right functions to cut away the dummy parts and export your video again, WITHOUT overlay.

Maybe there is an quicker way to do this, if so please let us know.

I understand and it will need a lot of time. That was not the way I understood this functionality to change the GPS data.
Thanks for this workaround, I hop there is another solution.

normally when you attach a gpx to a clip, the track shown will be the lenght of the clip

Edit: This is what you will get after what I've discribed.
The orange ball jumps from one part of the track to another part, just as the videoparts.

video and track are not exactly aligned but it shows what it should look like.

normally the track is aligned to the video, should be a new function, aligning the video to the track, maybe something for the developers to get their teeth in, in this (2014) year
