Video not playing in VIRB Edit

Greetings all-
New owner of a VIRB Elite. I like it, having some trouble though.

I had about 17 video's recorded. They ranged in length from 12 seconds to 23 minutes. I opened VIRB Edit, downloaded all the files and when prompted had VIRB Edit remove the files from the VIRB (I did see the post that I shouldn't do that). I was able to watch one video clip. After closing and returning to VIRB Edit, I get the message "This video cannot be played because it has either been deleted or moved". I can see the files in Windows explorer. Any ideas on how to be able to see the files?

Also, I've seen some info on formatting the SD card, can I format it just like any Windows drive and if so, what format type?

Thanks,
Dave
  • have you tried an 'import other'?

click on the down looking arrow next to the 'clip library' wording
  • KIWIMTBKR - I didn't even see that button. That did work for bringing in the MP4 file that I could see in windows. It didn't read the GPS/HRM data though. Now that I know that button exists I may try a few other things.

    Thanks for the information!!!

If you use "Import other" the video is not copied to your library, but it stays wherever you imported it from. You also don't get the track data automatically. You will have to manually 'Add GPS' the gpx or fit file to link the GPS data with your video.

Normally, doing "Import all" or "Import Selection" should be the better option.

I would like to find out what might have happened. Can you reproduce this behavior?

    1. record a video with the camera
    2. start VIRB Edit, use "Import Selection"
    3. pick the clip you just recorded
    4. import it, delete it
    5. play the clip
    6. close VIRB Edit
    7. open VIRB Edit again. Can you still play the clip?

    And a few more questions:

    1. What is the location of your clips library? You can find out by going to settings (gear icon on lower right corned of VIRB Edit). "Clip Library Location"
    2. Did you change that location?
    3. You say you can still the the files in Windows File Explorer. Where are they located?
  • Falagar -
Thanks for the advice. I will also try and recreate my trouble tonight and let you know.

    Thanks!!
