You can download it at www.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=6591.

This release should fix the export issues on Windows 8.1.

It should also fix some start-up crashes that were caused by incorrect track calculations.

One thing that is not yet fixed is the start-up issue on computers with on-board Intel graphics chipsets (Intel GMA 3x00). We can reproduce that issue but won't be able to get a fix for this out till January.

Please report back if you still cannot export or if you get any kinds of crashes.

That's the graphics card issue. You don't have a dedicated graphics card on your machine, right? Just some older on-board Intel graphics chip-set?

We have reproduced this in-house with an older Dell desktop and should be able to get this fixed for 2.3.

    I apologize for the trouble.

    Hi Falagar,

    Where is the giftwrap??? :D
Thanks for the new version, will be testing soon.
Shall I make a separate thread for the homemade overlays?
  • Nope, still wont export on my system. Got a couple of 10 min or less clips I want to render, but I just get the error message at some point during the export.

    Dell Studio XPS 8100
    Intel Core i7 2.93GHz
    16GB Ram
    Windows 7 64 Bit
    NVidia GE Force GTX 260

I'll keep plugging away and see if I can get it to work by rebooting, uninstall/reinstall etc etc. Don't understand what the issue is, my system is not the latest and greatest, but works fine with every other piece of video editing software I have, usually Adobe Premiere Pro/Elements.

    :(

We should make January, unless something unforeseen delays it.

    Hi FALAGAR,
thanks for fixing my export issue on Win 8.1. It works now :)
I observe it consumes 100% of my processor (all 8 processor threads) and heats up my laptop by a great magnitude so I had to enable an extra cooling boost during the export... And I have a powerful machine Intel i7-3610QM 2.3Ghz. I consider this behaviour as a bug. The export is also damn slow...

It would be nice if one could add a minimap from Google or Bing on the video during export instead of the shape of a track.
And it would be nice if there was an option to set min and max speed displayed on the scale (currently it is detected automatically based on the maximum speed in the clip). I found out that the GPS incorrectly reported my speed at the very begenning of the video and I ended up having a scale 0..1000 km/h on my cycle footage. If I had an option to define min and max speed, the incorrect readings could be dropped out during processing.

    Piotr

I am very glad export works.

Yes, we try to use every piece of CPU or GPU that we can find. If we didn't export would be even slower... We will definitely keep working on Export (reliability first and speed second). It's just a lot of data processing involved (decoding the video, resizing, converting color spaces, drawing and adding overlays, encoding, etc.) Video processing is a pretty intense business. But obviously there is still a lot of room for improvement on our part.

We will keep investigating the mini-map option. But it's very tricky legality-wise. And involving the lawyers is never simple.

We'll see what we can do about these faulty speed values. Having a min/max would certainly be an option. For now I would suggest you edit the track and remove the faulty points. BaseCamp should allow you to do that (or a different 3rd party GPX editor).

Sure a separate thread would probably be better.

I hope that 2.3 will make people who like to customize their overlays very happy.

Out of curiosity, have you tried to create your own gauges yet (the .veg files)? You can add any kind of image in those, so possibilities are near endless. Editing those files is a bit more tricky, but I am sure you can figure it out by looking at the ones that are already there. :)

    Hi Dex,

I am very sorry to hear, and I apologize for the trouble. I am pretty sure your system is fine, and should have plenty of muscle to make export work.

There is just a bug in the system somewhere that we'll have to find.

Can you export shorter videos at all? The videos you are exporting, do they consist of a single clip or is it a lot of clips combined (how many)?

Could you send me a private message with your email? I'll have our developer that is focused on export contact you. Hopefully we will be able to get this fixed for you.

    Again, my sincerest apologies.

Yeah, that was not a critical issue. We'll look into that for 2.3.
