Installed Garmin Edit yesterday and connected my VIRB Elite. I had paired it with HR and Cadence before my ride. I uploaded the videos and the speed and map displays but no cadence and HR. How do I get these on the screen as well? And can I show power data from my Vectors? Thanks
Clicking on it would show the thumbnail of the overlay you are looking for. (all the params you want to be displayed) I suppose you know how to add an overlay to the video?
Thanks mate, I do now. One of the cycling overlays has a power dial. How do I show data from my Vectors? Also, I paired with my Garmin speed/cadence sensor, but no cadence data is showing, what's going on here?
sorry, can't help with importing power and cadance, suppose that should be in the \garmin\activity\2013-##-##-##-##-##.FIT file. I know that Acceleration can be found in the .GPX file. The .gpx is readable, the .fit isn't so I cant check that. I only have a Zumo 550 and a RoadHawk Ride camera, waiting 'till March before I buy a VIRB (waiting for the most bugs being solved).
Cadence in the Camera is broken, and doesn't work. Heart Rate and Tempe work fine for me though. I wish it would offer me the option to display the Temp in C instead of F though (pretty please?).
However to display Power and Cadence, you need Virb Edit 2.2.3 (2.2.2 did show Power in Virb Edit, but did not Export it, so it was missing from the exported video) You need to Remove the Virb Elite GPS track, and once removed you need to "add gps" with the FIT file from your Garmin GPS device, I have a Virb Elite and Garmin 810. It usually Auto-Sync's quite well, as long as your Virb Elite and Garmin started the activity with a solid gps lock. You need to do this for every clip. So if you have done a 2 hour ride, you will have around 5 files, remove and add gps for each of the 5 files. Select an overlay that offers you Power and Cadence and you are done.
Having said all of that, while I have all of that working well, I can only manage a successful Export very occasionally. So I have a bunch of Video projects sitting in Virb Edit that I can't do anything with. Hopefully they will fix the Export issue quickly :)
Maybe the FIT format is specific to the 810/800 but when I connect my 810 by USB cable to the computer I just navigate to the 810 in My Computer and go into the Garmin/Activities folder to find the file for ride I've used the Virb Elite on. If its not a FIT file just use whatever format it gives you for the 500, not sure if the TCX or GPX is best. But just use whichever one you can export from the 500.
Hopefully that will work, but I'm sure there is someone more "technically" astute than I who can clarify if necessary. Anyway, thats what I've found to work for me :-)
