I've followed the solution given in this thread. Doesn't change a thing. Just curious, will 2.4 also help out those of us using Windows 7? Every single version of Virb Edit has crashed the moment I click the export button or attempt to upload to youtube.

Using Win7 Ultimate here on a rather long in the tooth laptop and had the same issue as you so I uninstalled Virb Edit and then deleted the Garmin folders from the App Data Local and App Data Roaming folders. Re-downloaded Virb Edit and reinstalled and, fingers crossed, haven't had Virb Edit crash on me yet and now onto my 5th of 9 exports, complete with custom overlays.

EDIT - successfully managed to export all 9 clips, complete with custom overlays without a single crash. Maybe there is something in making sure you remove all Garmin Virb related folders before attempting a fresh install?

The EDIT remark seems to be logic. Installed Virb Software (2.23) first time ever and it's running without any problems!

The last few days I have not been able to use VIRB Edit. It opens for a second and then is gone. I have updated to 2.2.3 and it worked once. I did receive an error message a few days ago and it had a spot to put an email address in to send the error message somewhere. I tried to reload the latest update and still not working. Should I uninstall and try a fresh install? Will I loose all my vidoes if I do this?

Uninstalling will not remove the videos. Deleting/renaming your app folder as outlined earlier in this thread will remove the video meta data (the information where the video can be found, the GPS data, your edits, etc.). The videos itself will not be deleted. By default they are stored in My Videos/VIRB.

We will release VIRB Edit 2.2.5 (skipped a version because of another issue found during testing so 2.2.4 never made it live) very soon which will have a fix for HENRIKKOCH's issue. That might be the same issue you are running into.

VIRB Edit 2.2.5 will address an export issue that we so far could only reproduce with Windows 8.1. It's possibly that it could occur on Windows 7 as well, but it might be something else entirely.

If 2.2.5 does not fix export for you, please get back to me. We will figure this out.

    I apologize for the trouble.
  • I know that there is a feature and that also corrected the out of sync problem between the video and the sensor data.
But how can this happen. How can they be misaligned? You know a what time the video is turned on - this should be easy to align to the GPS data stream which also contains the time of day ? So this should be used to auto align video/sensor data ?

  • Thanks FALAGAR ! I look forward to get the new version

Ideally it should not happen. In practice it does happen. Users with a VIRB Basic (without GPS) might not have the proper time set. Or while acquiring the signal the time might be off for the VIRB Elite as well. VIRB Edit tries to automatically align them, but it's not always going to be correct. It should be correct in the majority of cases though.

Today I tried to make a movie, just like yesterday and the day before.
I prepared my clip in PDP11.0 so it started and ended at the right point. (1280x720 25fps .MP4)
I also prepared my track. I trimmed it to the correct length in MapSource.
In the .gdb file were also the tracks of yesterday and the day before.
I also added some waypoints and a couple of drawn tracks.
VIRB Edit imported the file clip OK.
Than I tried to add the track.
VIRB Edit saw that there were more than one track, it only showed the tracks the GPS made, not the drawn tracks.
    So far so good.
I selected the track I wanted.
When I tried to adjust the track, VIRB Edit crashed.
Now when I start it the logo shows and I see a flash of the screen with the clips before it crashes.
I will try a reboot, if it doesn't work I'll try the "move directory" if I can find the thread, otherwise I'll try to uninstall and re-install it.

Can you attach or send the gpx file you used for this?

Sounds like VIRB Edit is having trouble reading the track from the gpx file.

To fix this without losing you other data: If you can find the right RawMovie in C:\Users\{YOUR USERNAME}\AppData\Roaming\Garmin\VIRB Edit\Database\2\RawMovies\ you can delete the track.gpx file in that folder. (Use the thumbnail to verify it's the right clip.)

I'd be very interested in seeing that gpx file though, so I can fix the crash.
