Fixed issues with text visibility when users use a non-Aero theme.
Fixed issue when exporting at different playback speeds.
Fixed issue with quality of exported video (no more vertical lines).
Fixed issues where the track overlays were not exported correctly.
Fixed issue where power overlays were not properly exported.
Fixed issue with automatic software update.
  • same issue with 2.2.2 and with 2.2.3

Export no workie, youtube crashes when clicked. single video, no overlays.

    Windows 8

    Lenovo 10093
    integrated Video
    i3 3320 3.3

How does a user get on a UAT team before release?
  • Update. Just performed the rename above and did a fresh install (not an update) and it worked.

    C:\Users\xxxxx\AppData\Roaming\Garmin\VIRB Edit

    to

    C:\Users\xxxxx\AppData\Roaming\Garmin\VIRB Edit backup

then went to the link http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=6591

ran the install and now seems to work. The issue seems to be with the update package, clean install may be the way to go.

Did this solve your export problem or a startup problem?
I just did this and still same ole' export error.

I changed (according to the procedure described previous here)

    C:\Users\Henrik\AppData\Roaming\Garmin\VIRB Edit

    to

    C:\Users\Henrik\AppData\Roaming\Garmin\VIRB Edit backup

and after running 2.3.3 again it creates a new VIRB Edit folder and now works ;)

I attached a picture of the content of the new "empty" folder and the backed up folder

    // HKOCH

Could you zip up the backed up folder and send it to me via a personal message? I'd like to see if I can reproduce the crash.

Now a comparison of the new and the backed up folder for the same video file

It seems that they changed the case of file paths and the reference to the videos in the XML file.
The one reference refer to a the local on the PC the other refers to the drive letter that the camera gives ?

That depends how you imported. If you copy directly from the VIRB (not using 'Import other') then we copy the file to you Videos/Virb directory. If you import using 'Import other' we just reference the file.

If you put the backed up folder back in there, does 2.2.3 crash again?

I have not heard anything more about windows 8 export fix. What is the status? Have you found the problem? When can we expect a solution?

    Computer stats
    windows 8 64bit -current
    intel-i7
    8 GB ram
    intel hd 4000 video card

    Any help would be appreciated.

We believe we have found a fix for the Windows 8.1 export issue. Hopefully we can have 2.2.4 with that fix out by Christmas.

    Another issue !

When editing and playing recorded videos with overlay the overlay such as speed does not follow the video ?
I recorded a trip in my car stopping for several red lights. But on the video the car is running 60 km/h when obviously as seen from the video the car is stopped for the red light. Other times on the same video the speed goes down to zero when the car is travelling ? It seems that the sensor data overlaid is out of sync with the video. Has other observed such problems ?

You might have to 'Adjust' the GPS data. Go edit a clip and then hit 'Adjust'. There you can pick a location in the video and a location on the map to make sure it lines up.

Normally it should line up correctly (if all the clocks are in sync). If they are not, a little adjustment is needed.

Unfortunately our Windows 8 test machines did not have trouble with exporting. It's a combination of OS and graphics card. We think we found a fix though.

My apologies for all the trouble.

Hmm, there is really no difference between update and clean install. It's the same installer. I'd be curious to see the backed up directory (zip it up and send me a personal message if you could).

If you rename your current 'VIRB Edit' folder to 'VIRB Edit Backup 2' and rename the 'VIRB Edit Backup' to 'VIRB Edit' does it crash again?
  • I renamed as you suggested, and yes, it crashed and the export failed to work. renamed everything back and it works again.
