I purchased the virb for this trip so as to use the Montana tracklog / remote and to record the temp via the ant accessory.
A few test rides in the UK showed using the Montana as a remote was going to give me just what I wanted, a choice between high quality stills and video while mounting the camera in varying positions on the motorbike. Worked very well.
However, once away a bug appeared and had to keep pulling the batteries or the remote would stop working. Seemed to be the Montana not the virb unless a two way comms issue. The remote would first take an age to react and then stop altogether? Anyone else reported this issue?
Second problem, again not experienced before going, the virb would fail to stop recording when using the main slide switch. Only way to stop was pull the battery but this corrupted the video. This could have been caused by temperatures close to 0deg C. I had no locking up before. Trip was from the UK to southern Spain via mountain passes so temp varied between 28C and -7C. Shame I could not use the still picture mode more as the quality of pictures are really good.
This will be a brilliant device once the bugs are sorted, handy that the batteries swap between devices as one charges ready in the Montana while riding.
