Virb Edit Exiting when I Click Add GPS

I have posted this question onto another thread but I really need FALAGAR to assist me on this as I think it is his area of expertise.

As soon as I click the 'Add GPS' button the program exits. I have tried running the program as Administer with the same problem. I have also tried installing on another computer running the same operating system and Suffered the same problem.

I am running Windows 7, Home Premium 64 bit with Service pack 1 installed on both computers.

I borrowed a friends laptop running Windows 7 Home 32 bit and the program worked perfectly on that. All three systems updated their MS Net framework during the install.

I have tried uninstalling and re-installing without resolution. I also tried to perform a roll back but unfortunately the installation didn't create a restore point.

My question to Falagar "is there a way to clear all the contents, of the program, from the computer and perform a 'clean' install"? or if you know about this problem is there a fix.

Kind Regards

Mick
  • I am not Falagar but after uninstalling it using add/remove programs, I had some luck completely uninstalling Virb Edit by deleting or renaming all the Virb directories and using find feature in regedit to do the same thing to any references of "virbedit"

Many thanks for your reply HEATWAVE23, I have tried your suggestion but I still get the same problem when I try to 'Add GPS'. Could I ask if you had the same problem as myself when you had to clear the registry and if so whether it fixed the problem.

When you click the button we try to show the standard Windows "File Open" dialog. I assume something is going wrong along these lines.

Do you have any "odd" drives on the machines you see this? Like network mapped drives?

I'd try to dismount any drives temporarily and see if this makes any difference.

There is no option to automatically remove everything. There are a few registry entries from the installer, then there is the app database at C:\Users\{USERNAME}\AppData\Roaming\Garmin\VIRB Edit and the temp files at C:\Users\{USERNAME}\AppData\Local\Garmin.

    Many thanks Falagar

You have solved the problem. I deleted the Garmin temp files from the AppData and both computers could import and use the imported file. Interestingly both the 64 bit computers had their Virb Edit programs updated from a previous version whereas the laptop was installed at the latest version.

Now to try and sort out the Export problem. I still haven't been able to export a file from my Virb Camera whether I use a GPS file or not it fails at about 4%

I will join with other threads on this error but I appreciate you prompt response in solving the issue I posted about.

    Kind regards
