Virb Edit GPS overlay with multiple clips

I have a Virb Elite, 810, HRM, & Powermeter on my bike.
I have a continuous data file from the 810 but multiple video clips on the Virb. For each video clip I independently replace and synchronize the Virb GPS data with the same (entire) 810 data recording. Unfortunately, when I then play the video the GPS data is synced only on the first clip and seems to lose the syncing when it gets to the subsequent clips. This is especially troublesome since the Virb creates a separate video file every 3.67GB.
Is this a known issue or am I doing something wrong?
  • Basically having the same kind of issues .. Using a Virb Basic + Garmin Edge 510 set up. Recorded a race this weekend (1h40 minutes of footage). Virb broke it up in several clips of 27' ... I manage to sync the data to the first clip (27') but the other all go awry. If I put all the clips in a long stream, I'm able to sync the first clip with the data. As I would expect, that would equally make the other clips 'in sync' with the data (starting point = correct => all the other footage should be good). Yet, that's not the case. There's a glitch somewhere somehow, yet I don't manage to find out where it is or what causes it. This is highly annoying. Garmin admin, please put in some advice here, cause I'm considering moving to Dashware again, which didn't seem to have these issue.
  • In my case, I paused the camera to save battery but kept it on. The grey line represents a pause, the other segments aren't joined but I'm sure the fit files are there for the missing segments too.

I have only been succesfull with multiple clips and syncing using 1080p 16:9 30fps (NTSC), with 25fps (PAL) it seems to drift out of sync very subtle.
To avoid syncing each clip independantly I assume that there is a fixed delta between the clocks of my garmin virb basic and my garmin dakota 20, I just shift the gpx file a couple of seconds using GPSbabel.
I am still on virbedit 2.9.1 since 2.9.2 did not result in a continous overlay, it starts over at each new clip.
  • After reading your message ErivdBer I downgraded to 2.8.0. Now Virb can match the whole activity with the video, leaving the gaps grayed as it should. I'm having some issues with the altitude data but I think I can get it to work.
Definitely 2.8 is working better than 2.9 in this regard.
  • Same problem here. I have 2.9.2.0. One single gpx file, and 4 videos. For the first video, all the data are right, but when the second video starts, my current time and distance starts from 0. Why? It's a bug, or somewhere I made mistakes?

It's a known bug which has STILL not been rectified.

    I can't wait for Virb Edit 3.0 ;)

    Where did you find 2.8?

I'm still having this problem with Windows VIRB Edit 3.0.1.0. I rode a 50-min ride yesterday, and when I went to import it, it's in 3 clips. I have a single GPX file captured by a Fenix3 and exported from Garmin Connect. If I add the same GPX to all 3 clips, I don't see data for clips 2 and 3-- the overlays are still shown but they don't have any data in them.

Did you sync the track for clips 2 & 3? What kind of videos are these? From VIRB Basic? Which video modes?
