VIRB Edit 2.1.1 is available for download at www.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=6591.

We added music support (MP3), as well as g-Force and power overlays.

We've fixed the map display issue, and improved the quality of the exported video.

This release is available in 14 different languages.
  • Good news, still waiting for my Elite ;)

question I saw coming up on the forum is, will there be Vector support on the Virb/Virb edit?

or is "Added overlays for display of power and G-force" the support to show vector power?

Yep, that would be Vector power.

In 2.1.1 it's just a simple wattage that gets displayed, in 2.2 we will add some pretty slick looking power meters. Stay tuned!
  • I just did a new export with 2.1.1 and there is stil no map inside the video.
It looks great on the preview, but not in the exported mp4 file.
    uploaded it to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pFSDoxu-VLs

If you need more tchnical details please let me know

    regards Guido

That is correct. 2.1.1 does not export the map, neither will 2.2.

We are still looking into ways to make this happen. But no promises.

The Mac version should be out very soon as well. Sorry about the delay.

I'm also interested in the map include feature.
In another thread the legal issues are discussed.
So in the mean while, you can do what I did.
Play the preview and capture it.
In my case the preview was bigger than the original.
After capture I reduced the size to the original.
    Another idear:
    Open an already made video.
Play the video and capture only the right part of the screen (the map).
Open a video-editing program and insert the map as Picture-In-Picture into your original movie.
  • Until Virb edit is able to export the map with the video, u can also use this http://www.routegenerator.net/index.html

    Hi,

I get the feeling that the speed displayed from the overlay is the speed by gps. Is it possible to show speed by the speed sensor GC10? For now I'm using the FIT file from Edge 810. Then the speed displayed will be more acccurate.

The GPS data is then used to only sync the FIT file with the video.

I noticed that I can't resize the map when editing.
In 2.0 I could change the size of the map or the video. (see below)

I was expecting to be able to move the grey progress-bar in future versions.
The screenshot was taken from my HP635 laptop.
As you can see the hight of the video/map bar is getting very small.

A second thing: I couldn't find the revision number of VIRB-Edit from within the program.
Maybe this could be added in the start screen or somewhere in the Settings.

I tried to install 2.0 along 2.1.1 that doesn't work => msi error.
Maybe this could be changed in "a newer version is already installed" or "do you really want to install an older version?"

Maybe an option could be added to install on a different location.

I did install 2.1.1 over 2.0 on my "fixed" PC.
For 2.0 I added a desktop icon myself as the 2.0 installation has no option placing an icon on the desktop.
Maybe this is already included in 2.1.1 but I can't check it.

I noticed that 2.0 was in english, 2.1.1 changed to dutch automaticly.
Maybe an option could be added to change the language to one that differs from the system.
