Script error synchronizing Gmetrix (marker.js and controls.js) - [WORKAROUND]

Hi,

A few weeks ago I corrected a similar error by adding the VirbEdit.exe variable (00002ee1) to the Windows registry, but apparently many people have had 2 new similar errors appear about 2 weeks ago:

maps.googleapis.com/.../marker.js
maps.googleapis.com/.../controls.js

I see several open threads about this problem... No response/solution from Garmin yet?

VirbEdit is a useless application if synchronization between GPS and multimedia data cannot be performed.

Thanks and regards.

  • I dont think garmin will make anything! The last Version is old and when you ask they Tell you that they wont talk about future Development.

They clearly cancel virb edit years ago

  • It seems that the cause is the deactivation of Internet Explorer features (in relation with Google Maps API), and seems like Garmin is not going to fix the issue because they do not support Virb anymore.

I have found a way to synchronize the video with the GPS data (in my case I use it for road cycling - https://lc.cx/pQiNKg ): first I print overlays on the screen such as Altitude, Speed or Track, and then I adjust it roughly. By viewing the track, with a curve or an intersection, you can get the position and synchronize with the video. Likewise, a variation in speed or altitude can indicate the end of a climb and the beginning of a descent (or vice versa). These overlays help you identify where you are in the video.

This workaround isn't exact (VIRB sync wasn't either...), so I usually have to trial-error and adjust a few seconds forwards or backwards, until I check that the sync is correct. This process may take a few minutes, but it is not complex. The key is to obtain an overlay that allows us to get our position in the video.
