Would be really nice to export the map animation (the one overlayed on Google maps) in VIRB Edit to its own video file so that it can be used in other video editing software and played along side or with the regular footage.

I would agree with this request. I use a Virb 360 to capture video of places that my students might not get a chance to visit. I always have to start a presentation logging into Google Earth to show them.
