360 "follow path" not working

Hi All

I have been preparing for recording and uploading a 100 mile ride on my Virb 360. As a test for this I recorded a 50 mile ride I did.
Battery and stitching and so on (while slow) all seemed to work fine but I am having a problem with the video stabilisation.

The best "stabilisation" seems to be none. All the other seem to make it feel worse.

For a 6 hour video I don't want this. I want the video as smooth as possible and looking in the direction I was travelling and not where I am looking. This doesn't seem to be working at all though:

Is my camera broken? DOes virb edit just not work on a video this long?

What do I do?

I'm not clear from your description, but it sounds like you are shooting 5.7k and stitching later on a computer. As far as I know stabilisation only works with in camera stitching.

I'm new to the Virb 360, but have been blown away by the stabilisation of footage from a recent Alps trip, with some wobbly ascents and fast descents. Videos have been in excess of two hours per clip, and edited down to 40 minutes or so. I don't use the follow path option. I use the option that levels the horizon and stabilises while still pointing forwards (unless I pan in software).

yes, that's correct, well nearly. 5K stitched on computer.

The stabilisation is not done on the camera - if it was you would not be able to change it at edit time on the computer. The stabilisation just uses data from the gyroscope to stabilise the video at render time.

I am begging to suspect that there is an issue with my camera.

Garmin - any suggestions?

I'm aware that the stabilisation is not applied in camera, but as I understand it the stabilisation applied by Virb Edit software requires the two files to be stitched in camera and not by other means, including Virb Edit itself.

I can't see it say that. That would have also been true before Virb Edit stitching was supported.

Their words, not mine. But they are wrong. Computer stitching does allow stabilization in Virb Edit, as I discovered recently. Unfortunately I find the quality of stitching on computer to be worse than in camera stitching and the footage is soft.
