If you look at that post you can see the cause of the issue. Basically the target quality setting is broke right now. It exports at a bitrate of 40 no matter which setting you pick instead of source bitrate which should be 60+. Purdington is working on a fix for this so I would just check back at that link for any updates.
So before each setting changed the bitrate as you can see below.
Low - 40 Medium - 60 or source High - 77 Max - between 90 - 100
This issue was introduced it 5.0+. After a lot of tickets and testing they now see that the issue is there. Now its just a waiting game until the fix it.
You can change the the decoding setting by going to settings then media. Gives 2 options.
And that's part of the problem. People want to go complain where Garmin developers don't see it. If you have an issue you should post here or open a ticket. That would be like buying a Ford truck and going to the doctor and complaining about the tires. Yes they are slow but purdington himself has made an effort to try and resolve this. Best thing to do is post here and keep a good attitude.
