No Video Playback While Editing

I'm having a problem with editing my 5.7k 360 footage. My videos imported ans stitched correctly, and I can export them just fine. But during editing if I hit the play button only the audio plays; the preview area just shows black. So pretty much editing is impossible.

I'm running Virb Edit on an old workstation computer that I've re-purposed for video editing:
Operating System: Windows 10 Pro (64-bit)
Processor: Dual 3.1GHz 8-Core Intel X5
Memory (RAM): 64 GB
Graphics Card 1*: nVidia Quadro K5000 with 4 GB of memory
Graphics Card 2*: nVidia GTX 870 with 3 GB of memory
Display Resolution: 1920 x 1080

*The machine only had one video card installed at a time, but I had the same behavior with both cards. I tried the K5000 first, then I switched to the GTX 780 because I had it sitting around. I'm running the computer via remote desktop over local gigabit ethernet. I don't think that should affect the software, but I figured I should mention that detail.

Any help would be appreciated.
  • Posting an update, hopefully this helps someone. It seems that Virb Edit will not engage the video card render video unless there is an active monitor plugged into the output of the video card. The practical upshot is that remote desktop doesn't work at all, but I did get it to work with TeamViewer since that software allows screen mirroring.
