Virb Edit exports stereo audio wrong

Hi,

I have added a music soundtrack into Garmin Virb 360 4k video. Playback mode in Virb Edit app v 5.3.1. works just fine, you can hear the music blasting from both speakers: left and right. When I export video into 4k mp4 (using fmfpeg video encoder) right speaker is silent for some reason. There are no such settings available for audio. Please address the issue. The exported video cacn't be found here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cZJQ4tA0xMI . Thanks!
  • Does anybody else have a problem with this? How can I report a bug for Virb Edit app?
    Thanks!
  • Yes, I've got the same problem. I've download stereo MP3 music from official Google YouTube channel. Stereo music plays fine in the Virbe Edit. But when I exported 4K for my Virb 360 - I've got only left channel music. My right channel is silent for this music. I tested mp3 standalone - it played stereo. But after export - I've got mono-version (left headphone plays music, right headphone doesn't play music track. One more thing - background sound plays for both channels.

    :mad::mad::mad:
  • By the way, I tried to export to 2,5K , HD 1080p - right channel with my added stereo mp3 file was silent.
I tried to add default music file from Edit Music library - problem the same. In software I can hear 2 music channel, but 1 channel will be available for listening. :-((

    ver.5.3.1 (27.11.2017)

It seems you have a real bug in Garmin Virb Edit software.
  • Hi Everyone,

Thanks for reporting this issue on the forums. I've reproduced this issue on my PC and found the culprit. Video Decoder/Encoder doesn't seem to matter. Can you guys export with NONE as the branding and see if you're still getting the audio issue? for me the music coming out of only 1 speaker only occurs when I select a branding (ie: Intro, outro, Intro and Outro).

I've removed Garmin intro - situation the same - left channel with mp3 plays, right channel doesn't play mp3 music. Here it is video example - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0U999U3StgQ
  • Today, Garmin published new intro video about Virb Edit software https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fo8xblZ-mp8 .
    Are you kidding Garmin guys?
How about to fix bugs before? :-(
Any chance to get Garmin support response according to this situation?
It seems you don't care about this problem and don't want to read customers' posts :-(

Thanks niktibik, It looks like turning off Branding only restores the sound with Exports and not sharing. I've reproduced your issue on my end. So I think the best work around until this issue has been fixed is to Export your video without Branding (no intro/outro etc..) then share your exported video to YouTube using a web browser.

Thanks for a response. I've done the same.

Step 1 - Add stereo mp3 to the video 360 in Virb Edit.
Step 2 - Turn off Garmin logo video
Step 3 - Export video to standalone file.
Step 4 - Add exported video manually to YouTube (drag-n-drop method from Hard disk to YouTube Video Upload section.
Step 5 (final) - Save default settings video in YouTube and publish.

    As a result - I've got 1 channel music for my 360 video. :-(

Have I missed something according to your instruction?

That's exactly what I did and stereo mp3 sound was coming out of both ears in the YouTube video I uploaded.

    1. Make your edits in VIRB Edit and add your music file
    2. Export without logos
    3. Upload to YouTube using a browser (I used Chrome)

I had Ffmpeg selected for the Video Encoder and Decoder, I'm not sure if that matter.
  • This is indeed a bug in VirbEdit. I've found the root cause and it should work correctly in our next release. Unfortunately there are no easy work-arounds for this issue in the mean time :(
