Virb Edit crashes on Windows 10

Recently purchased a Garmin Ultra 30 and absolutely love it...my problem is that I can't get Virb edit to work on my Windows 10 systems. I tried on my existing desktop (Win 10 64 bit, i5 3.50 GHz, 16gb memory, 1TB+ free disk space and GeForce GT740 video card with 10,182MB memory) with little luck in that exporting video would stay on 0% processed for 18+ hours.

Bought a brand new laptop just to be able to process Ultra 30 videos and nearly everything I do with virb edit causes a crash. Virb edit starts OK, but whether I am trying to edit a video or export a video the application crashes. My new system is Win 10 64 bit, i7 2.80 GHz, 16gb memory, 505GB+ free disk space and GeForce GT1050 video card with 12,205MB memory.

This is a great camera but basically useless without the ability to edit and overly G-Metrix data and export. I have an issue opened with Garmin but who knows how long that will take.

Does anyone know where I could download a prior version (4.2 and/or 5.1) to see if that works in the meantime?

Thanks in advance.
  • hi bobfake,

Previous versions of Virb Edit can be downloaded from here.

    cheers

  • I've had all versions crash on my Windows 10 machine and only 5.x does 360.....
  • Was told by support that 5.2.1 is coming soon for windows and to wait and see if that solves my issues. No specific feedback regarding the cause of my specific crash or if there is something in 5.2.1 to address my issue. I've got 2 1/2 hours of great video that I can't do anything with...very frustrating!!!

First post here. Just bought a Virb Ultra 30 and I love the camera but am having the same problem as the original poster. I have a brand new and exceedingly fast ASUS G701Vi-XS72K with stock specs except for the additional hard drive. I am running Windows 10 64-bit.The Virb Edit software 5.2.0 will import video and G Metrix into the software but when I click on any file to edit or playback, the message that the software has stopped working pops up and I have no choice but to close the program. I have sent the crash logs to Garmin for analysis but they stay the engineers wont contact me for a few weeks probably and I need to edit with G Metrix before then. I will post logs for anyone who may have a solution.

    Thank you for any help!
