Multiple Camera Editing - Virb Edit 5.1.4

Input from 2 VIRB Elites that are started within a second or two of each other to record the video.

View A is my Main forward facing view. View B is my secondary rear facing view.

When Imported into VIRB Edit - View B starts 2 minutes 22 seconds before View A. View A ends 2 minutes 22 seconds after View B stops.

When attempting to set the 'Start Activity time' both sides of the screen move and never get in sync.

When activating the G-mextrix Sync button it says the G-metrix is already in sync.

Getting nowhere fast!

  • This is one of those situations where we'd need your data to say definitively what is going on. My best guess is that the GMetrix data for video B really is offset from video A by 2 minutes. So if video B started at 10:00::00 and video A started at 10:00:02, but the camera that recorded A has its internal system time set to 10:02:22, our system has no way to know the "real" time the video started, we just trust the (wrong) times recorded in the data, which in this scenario will say 10:02:22. If that really is what is going on, there is not any way for VirbEdit to sync them up. As they say in the software business: "garbage [data] in, garbage [data] out"

  • If GPS is setting the times for both VIRB Elites - how can the time be off? The above list of GPX file - the last two are from the videos pictured. As can be seen - If I am reading the time and date of the final two files - they are only 8 seconds apart - not 2 minutes and 20 seconds.

Even if they are different, there should be a mechanism to get them in sync with each other. If I were to copy the data from one of the files to replace the data in the other - would that sync them?
  • Yikes! That's disturbing. I have a Virb Elite that I strap on to my hang glider every time I fly, but since I'm frequently pointed into the wind - toward the water - I occasionally want to switch to a side view in my output video. I had heard that Virb Edit could do this, but didn't know anyone who'd tried it and thought I'd look for info on the topic before making my order. It's now in my Amazon shopping cart, but if this isn't working, I'll hold off on buying that second camera for a while.
  • With my Virb X and XE,the starting gap is always 10 seconds. Stopping between 2-4 seconds.
Both turned on, then the master starts the slave remotely. I think that takes that much time. But it is nothing against your Elite!
