Hi Everyone,

VIRB Edit release 5.2.0 for Win is now available. You can download it from here. The in-app update should be live as well.

Updates:
  • HyperFrame Director Mode - Re-frame video content after filming using smooth camera pans, impressively wide angles, and tiny planets
  • RAW Stitching - Import and stitch 360 videos recorded in RAW mode
  • Create new custom logo gauges by dragging images into the player view

its seem there are major problems with the last software update. Please let the community (people who bought the camera) know if you are working on a detailed list of problems. I really like the camera but I'm having trouble recommending this product and software to the University and college I work with. On a side note ... please make it so we don't have to stitch 5.7K files from the camera. If you record to multiple SD cards in the field it really messes up the workflow to have to load it back onto the SD cards stitch RAW 5.7k files. its not like you could stitch other cameras video with the software(different distances between lens).

    Hi,

I try to import a raw file of about 60 seconds from my virb 360, but file import does not go, it seems that the problem is during stitching, the virb 360 is up to date, I use Windows 10 64ciq.forums.garmin.com/.../1263273.jpg

    Hi alessandro,

This issue should be addressed in the next release, for the time being you can fix this issue by changing your language to English.
    1. Type Region and Language in the Windows search text box
    2. Open Region and Language
    3. Select the Format tab
    4. Select English

  • I'm having this problem too... but my language is already English. The stitching process starts and then it says "0/1" for both stitching and optimisation.
  • Thanks for taking the time to edit my post. Maybe spend the time answering the problem instead?

I am also experiencing stitching fail when set for 5.7k and max resolution. Stitching progress bar starts then 10 seconds later goes to 100% and happily announces its success. Seems to be ok if res is set as "high". Extremely annoying:(

    windows 7 8core with 32gb ram and 8gb nvidia 1070 card
  • The thing is, stitching is working just fine on another system I have - that is much, much less powerful than the one that I want to use... which doesn't work.

Cyberwest's post had me try same files with laptop and it does work (slowly) as well. I've turned on "extra logging" but for the life of me can't figure out where logs are written.
  • Unfortunately, I don't think we will get a response from Garmin here. I've had questions on Garmin's forums sit literally for months without reply. The hardware is great; the customer service is terrible.

    Hi Everyone,

Thanks for your valuable feedback, and I’m sorry about the issues you’re experiencing with VIRB Edit.
Liviu , Silvertrophy , antimattertoothbrush , cyberwest regarding the stitching issues you reported, we are working diligently to resolve these, we should have a fix available in our next release, which should be out in a couple of weeks from now.

Additionally, if you or other users are experiencing stitching failures on machines with AMD GPUs then please try switching your encoder/decoder to ffmpeg/ffmpeg to check if this resolves the issue. Thanks for your patience.
