VIRB Edit 5.2.0 is now available

Hi Everyone,

VIRB Edit release 5.2.0 for Win is now available. You can download it from here. The in-app update should be live as well.

Updates:

HyperFrame Director Mode - Re-frame video content after filming using smooth camera pans, impressively wide angles, and tiny planets
RAW Stitching - Import and stitch 360 videos recorded in RAW mode
Create new custom logo gauges by dragging images into the player view

Thanks equinox1234 for getting back to us! So, is it the AMD GPU causing the problem rather than the AMD CPU? This combo is great for encoding with Adobe applications, but I guess both the AMD processor and graphics in my system are pretty new.

I tried DashWare as a means to get around the failings of VIRB Edit. It also seems to crash when I attempt to create video.

I have given up on VIRB Edit for doing anything more that the grossest of editing tasks.

Has any lucky user ever been able to run Virb Edit on a Threadripper machine? I'd love to read the effect of this number crunching beast on times and fps. :)

I have run it on two different computers with basically the same output time. One is 2nd Gen Core-i7 running @ 4.2Ghz and other is AMD 1800X Ryzen. both using Nvideo GTX 1060 6GB. I doubt threadripper will make much of a difference, CPU usage is not very high. (version 5.1.3)

I'll try it on my Threadripper shortly and get back to you. I really hope it works. One of the reasons I bought a Threadripper was to create some 360 content using Premiere Pro, and it's been a real shame I've had to use another much slower system to do the 5.7K stitching.

I'd love to see some benchmark with Threadripper's enormous power applied to Virb Edit. :) Please let us know how long it does take it to export ten minutes of FHD footage (1080p)! This would be very interesting in terms of comparison.
