I have the same problem !
Virb Edit crashed all the time.
    Can?t edit my videos, can?t watch it.ciq.forums.garmin.com/.../1239467.jpg
  • I have a similar problem. Virb Edit 5.1.2 played a few videos imported from a Virb Ultra 30. Then it stopped playing them, suggested the video driver should be updated. Video driver is the latest driver for NVIDIA Quadro 410. Computer is running Windows 10 Pro build 1703. Intel i7-4790 with 16GB of memory, clearly exceeds the minimum system requirements for Virb Edit.

Now it doesn't play any videos, just hear sound. I tried a few of the settings listed above, seemed to make no difference, except now instead of suggesting to update the video driver it suggests some clips are corrupted. Which is not true because they were previously edited using my iPhone and uploaded to YouTube. The clips were left intact because I wanted to re-edit them and upload them at full 1080P resolution.

I am having the same issue. I am using Windows 10 / 64bit. The problem happens when my "Select Playback device" is set to Speakers (Bose USB Audio). It works if I select Speakers / Headphones (Realtek High Definition Audio). I use the Bose USB Audio when listening to audio on my headphones.

I can confirm that the program crashing has something to do with the audio output because when I have the output set to speakers (logitech headset) the program crashes every time I try to play a video. But when i change the output to realtek digital output I can play the videos without program crashing, but without sound of course.
It would really be nice if Garmin people would work hard on solving this issue.
  • No, for me it doesn't seem related to sound settings. It doesn't crash every time, it plays the one video I recorded in 1080P. But then when I try to play a video recorded in 2.7K it crashes and then won't play the same 1080P video that it played the first time.

Oh, I take it back. It reliably plays the very short clips recorded at 2.7K, clips which are 2 to 32s long. It tends to crash more when playing longer videos, and then after it crashes, it will not again play those same videos which is previously played.

While the Virb Ultra 30 is great quality, and has a lot of nice features versus the competition, with all these glitches I'm wondering if I should've bought the usual action camera instead. It will be hard to give the Virb Ultra 30 a good review from the place where I purchased it if it doesn't work reliably.
  • Interesting! Big observation just now! Playback of a video recorded at 2.7K 60FPS works when the playback at Fast (720P) is selected, but it crashes when playback at Full (2.7K) is selected. It also crashes when edit at 2.7K is selected.

And yes, I recently downloaded the latest version of Virb Edit, 5.1.3.

So it looks like for now I should record at 1080P :(
