I have a virb elite on the front of my bike that i have been using for a while. I'm looking to venture into multicam with a rear facing camera. A friend has a normal virb that he isnt using that I can use. But I'm now reading that the regular virb doesn't have gps. Does anyone know if this will work in virb edit and it will sync the two videos for pip? Thanks!
Went to reply to this thread -- There is a short timer on this Forum and my long post would not post. So I'll keep this very short.
Yes it's possible to create a PiP video using a full featured Garmin camera and a 2nd camera of your choosing. It will take along with VIRB Edit - Another piece of software to create the PiP.
As an example of what such a video could look like -- I used the Garmin Ultra 30 and Virb Edit to create the data overlay and for the PiP - Use any camera you wish along with a PiP software and this is what it looks like.
Here's another idea for you -- Using 2 dis-similar camera's and only using Virb Edit. One creates a final video with the data overlay and the video's are strung together -- Front to back. Not the best solution but if you don't mind a string video instead of a PiP video -- This is one solution.
To illustrate here is a video I created -- Content isn't important as much as format.
Thanks Superdunner for taking the time with the very informative reply! I knew I could use a third party software to pip the rear camera into my main video, but I was concerned about how much I was gonna have to mess with making sure the two videos are synced properly. I like the idea of virb edit taking the time/gps data and syncing according to that. I wish virb edit would do that when bringing a fit file from my 1000, as I have to sync the gmetric data sometimes, which is a pain on 3+ hour videos. I hope it works as good as advertised lol. I went ahead and purchased another virb elite that I plan to use for the rear camera, so hopefully that solves that problem.
