[Several Feature Requests]

OK Pretty much first contact with the software.

--> elements of G-metrix in the overlay aside of being movable should have handlers to scale them.

--> track in the G-metrix, the gps track I mean, should allow for a zoomed version, iv the track is very long a lot of detail is lots, its oke to have like a complete track somewhere but a detailed zoomed map area (like in games) should be doable.

---> right click--> export g-metrix---> ok now what... allow to export to stuff like KML or more regular human friendly format like gpx or other stuff in order to import the track into other software such as google earth or even a CAD or 3D software.

-->allow for zoom in in the timeline!!! K mon!! seriously!?!? even the crapiest video editor does that.

--> some glitch is not recording geotag data correctly in timelapse images an all are taged equally. To my surprise I found that there is g-metrix data of that track saved correctly , while doing timelapse. So, in the weird case that the timelapse is supossed to have all geotaged equally by default, allow to import the other g-metrix to the timelapse to export the timelapse images geotaged.

--> snapshot button in the video editor does not make an snapshot using the source video but its a cropped screenshot!! What the hell!!.

--> for this one I made an specific post.
https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?369468-Feature-Request-Export-image-sequence-from-video

--> Edit: I forgot this one. Lens distortion removal!! Yes it is an in camera option but I might want to have both versions. Source + able to remove distortion.!!

Thats it for now.

for now. I would be happy user if I could have geotaged timelapses and video frame sequence exports with geotag info.

I just burn 400€ and not really happy...

Wait until you delve deeper and find a lot more things you can't do that you can get on simple software! Adding music overlays is very poor. I'm not even going to try and point out what is missing from this software, there is too much that should be standard, and I am not technical, but this is super basic. As for ease of use, it's not very user friendly at all.
  • I don´t know what is wrong with this forum but I edited my post to paste this link

    https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?369468-Feature-Request-Export-image-sequence-from-video

Witch I forgot in the first place and now is not showing.

Plus every time I'm going to post there is a CAPTCHA!! what!

THe forum technology feels like going back to 2003.

What worries me is that the things that should do right does not. I mean how is it possible that it has no g-metrix exporter to csv, or gpx or mor human friendly stuff.

How is it possible it does not export geotaged data such image sequences or time lapses!!!

    HOW!!!!

All the other mixing thing you can do even with movie maker.

The hardware feels amazing but the software part is cheesy.

If I'm not getting an answer pointing in the good direction I'm going to return this cam back to Amazon.
  • I found another limitation.

As you turn on the camera the data logger wakes up.

That data can be seen by the virb edit but I find no way to export it no even to a fit file.

I found other users trying to export .fit data to a csv and the answer was that they should build their own software using an sdk. wow.

    Hello Pauleras,
Thank you for taking time to let us know what you think of our software! I wish we had the time and resources to implement all your suggestions. However, I think I can address a couple of your concerns. The timeline actually can be zoomed in. You'll notice that to the left of the timeline there is a slider that says "Zoom" above it. A lot of people assume this refers to the video itself, but it actually refers to the timeline. Moving it to the right will zoom the timeline in. We've found that a lot of people don't notice this feature, so we're working on ideas to improve the user experience in that regard. We'd love to hear any ideas you have.

Scaling G-metrix gauges: This is on our short list of new features. You should expect to see that one in the not too distant future.
Exporting G-Metrix: When you export a video, it should produce a .gpx file in the same location as the output video that has all the data from your video. ie. if you trimmed your video, the GPX will only contain data for the parts of the video you kept.
export .fit data to a csv: This is also a feature we intend to support in the near future
Snapshot button: Sounds like this feature is not working as intended. Can you post the image that VirbEdit produces, and screen shot of from the original video? What resolution is the video you are taking a snapshot from?
Export image sequence from video: This is a cool idea and very doable, but I haven't heard a lot of demand for it. In the past, we've added or changed features based on feedback we've gotten on the forums. If we hear enough people request it, we (engineers) can make the case that it would be worth spending some time doing. Out of curiosity, what would you use this feature for?
Track in the G-metrix: When we draw your track, we zoom in as far as we can without cutting off any part of your track. Are you asking that it be bigger? Maybe example screen shots showing what you are seeing and what you want to be different would help me understand this one

    @uberdude76
Actually I'd love to hear the things you think our software doesn't include that it should. What would you like to see changed about adding music to your video?
  • The snapshot button used to work. I have been in contact with Garmin Support regarding this issue the details of the support ticket are

    Image capture quality <Q#:1000114> << Reference ID: 9108922K0 >>

I have just one simple request when using the VIRB software and creating a video overlay -- Change the watermark to an elective option instead of mandatory.

You change the contents of the overlays - adding and deleting elements as you desire.

In setting the Start point for lap timing and/or G-Metrix starting - have an option to specify the width of the track - some tracks for bicycle or running races may have elements of the track very close to the start line - but not crossing the actual start line. In automotive competitions tracks can have pit lanes immediately adjacent to the active track by the timing line applies to both the active track and the pit lane. Have the option to set the start line width from 10 to 200 feet for example.

Doesn't address my point -- One cannot delete Garmin's watermark on 95% of their overlays.

I object to the Garmin watermark. If Garmin would make their Company Logo/Watermark elective -- This then resolves my issue.

If you've a way to disable/remove the watermark overlay-ed in the video -- -- I'm all ears ......... And I've tried to no avail.
