Changing language into VIRB Edit does not work

Hello, I have a question how to change Language into VIRB Edit.
I would like the VIRB Edit language into Englisch (from Dutch).

I found this solution in this forum:
================================================================================
Currently we do not plan to add UI for language selection, but that might change. You can manually change it by editing the config file.
It's in C:\Users\{USERNAME}\AppData\Local\Garmin\VirbEdit. exe_Url_{SOMELETTERSANDNUMBERS}\2.1.1.0\user.config.

Add the following:

<setting name="UserLanguage" serializeAs="String"><value>en</value></setting> after the <Virb.Properties.Settings> tag.
================================================================================

But if I do so, VIRB Edit stops.
After removing the added sentence is works as usual!

What I am doing wrong?

Thanks for any reply.

    Does anyone have an idea?
  • You are right, this work-around doesn't work anymore. I'll have to dig around to see what's going on there.

    If you want to run VIRB Edit in English, you can try something else: go to VIRB Edit's installation folder "C:\Program Files (x86)\Garmin\VIRB Edit" and delete the "nl" sub-folder. Then VIRB Edit won't find the Dutch resources and will run in English.

    Hello FALAGAR,

    Thanks for your help, that works :cool:!

    The more comfortable way to do was by changing the name of the mentioned directory by adding or removing one character.
    So I could easily switch back again ;).

    Thank you for that information, that helped!

    First of all, I don't understand why you would force users to use a specific language, before I saw this tip, I could not use gauges with text on, because not many of the people seeing my videos would understand danish. Why on earth should my videos be forced to be danish, my Youtube channel has users from all over the world?

    Apart from that, I don't understand why Garmin seem to choose to translate their software using Google translate, I know they have danish staff here in Denmark.
    For instance, Power is translated with the danish word for electricity, which makes absolutely no sense at all. If Garmin can't afford to have a human translator, I will be glad to help, for the danish translation is really poor.
  • I justed started to use virb edit and was also annoyed that the gmetrix gauges language was in my local language and the app itself in English and that it's not possible to change the language in the app itself.
    I then found out that the gauge language depends on which language is set for te Format setting in regional options (Windows10)
    So if you want to change the gauges language change the format setting (see pic)
  • Just learning how to use VIRBEdit because Dashware 1.9.1 has a nasty bug that gives a parser error with Garmin .fit files (it's a total mess and GoPro doesn't give support). It is a beautiful prog but DW is far superior, unfortunately... it takes a long time to tell the prog to import some columns from some logs and others from other logs and generally I end up overwriting some data in the logger and having blanks on some magnificent gauges I created. Virbedit solves this but with the language overlays it's a MESS... how peculiar... you have no language option in the virbedit.

    Now... the first method, erasing the language folder does the trick already but since I'm there, I'm using the SECOND method to change the whole Win10.

    Thank you Falagar and coconut!!!!
  • Any news for MAC users. I love the quality of the Garmin hardware but it seams like they have lost the last chain namely the software to show the stuff.

    I have the same question, but there doesn't seem to be much answering going on here... I want to use the Verb Edit SW in English on my Mac. The Verb Edit SW was installed in Dutch which I don't want... how can I change this?
  • My iMac in the home is set up in Dutch. Virb Edit has defaulted to Dutch language, which I don't want. How can I make Virb Edit work in plain english?
