Broken Track overlay once more than 1 clip is used

The track overlay is working fine when a single clip is used, however when adding a second clip or third it will break the track overlay for all clips, until all but 1 clips are removed on the story/timeline and then the track will magically reappear. I've watched youtube videos from a year or so ago and people were dropping multiple different clips onto the storyline and the map/track overlay would be fine for each clip as they moved along. Mine just break up and start to disappear. Running 4.2.2 and Garmin Virb Ultra 30 with latest updates.

Can't seem to add pictures so have linked them above.

Here's a link to an auto created video and you can see the track over lay is totally messed up due to so many clips used. All the other data is fine though.

    Bump

    Bump.
Is everyone else able to add multiple clips and have the track overlay work correctly? I've rang support 3 times and sent numerous emails to get nothing in response.
  • Hi,

I know why you have a broken track as I have the same.

Basically when you switch the Virb on it starts recording GPS data, then when you record video it overlays that data, however when you switch it off it stops recording data, so you're getting the broken track as per the video.

The way to get this working is to leave the virb switched on all the time and record the segments when you want them, but as soon as you switch it off you lose the 'track' and it starts a new one.

You'll also notice that the distance figure in your video is per clip as each one starts from 0.0km, if you left the Virb on the distance would be the actual distance you were at during that point in the entire session.

I am trying to do something similar but I record the entire track using a Garmin Edge and then clips with the Virb, getting the 2 to line up isn't easy!

    thanks

Hi thanks for that, I do understand what you mean by doing that, and it would solve the problem, however I don't believe this is the way the over lay is supposed to work. The entire track for each clip is there until you add another clip then it breaks it. Garmin support directly can't even help at this point..
I ride for like 5 hours sometimes and swapping a battery means the recording will stop. I hope this isn't the final answer though. Hopefully some else can confirm they can use totally different clips from different days and still have the map overlay correctly for each clip while viewed.
