Jerky video in VIRB edit

I'm new to both VIRB Camera and VIRB edit so go easy on me please.

I've recorded some trial clips in various formats but when I load them onto edit they play. Ack jerky
With slight pauses.
Hoping it's just me being a novice and that you guys will have a quick fix

Many thanks in advance

The video playback function while in edit mode of VE is choppy. However, the video has normal playback after it is exported. There is a function in VE 4.1.1 to optimize the video while in edit mode. This reduces the choppiness you refer to but does not eliminate it. The choppiness is the same with VE 4.2.1 as well.

Have you tried to export a video? If so, does the choppiness remain?

    Cheers,

If you are on a laptop try using the DXVA decoder instead. Menu > Settings > Media > Video Decoder (make sure you are on the newest version).

    Jerky Video

I am having similar issues with jerky video playback on videos - but only in traineroad player (GoPro videos work fine so it's something about XE)

    Resolution

This is usually because of your preview resolution, set it to half or less instead of full quality preview. Something like 720p. I don't have virb infront of me to tell you the specific naming but it is to the lower right of your preview window while playing back.

It is caused by having a weak cpu / gpu with the high quality video you are using, 1080p should be fine but 2.7k and 4k really push the computers to play back on the fly via the preview.

Can you tell us your computer specs and let us know if changing the preview quality helps?
Remember it's only preview quality, once you export and chose your render settings it will be full quality. Lower preview just speeds things up and takes the choppy / jerky video away.
