How to import Garmin G1000 data into Virb Edit?

Hi,

I've finally got the chance to go flying in a Garmin G1000 equipped Cessna 172 this weekend. I'm planning on taking both Virb XEs but would love to import the data recorded from the G1000 into Virb Edit. It'll be much more accurate than the Virbs and not rely on how I mount them. It appears that the G1000 records in CSV format but Virb Edit can't import CSV. Does anyone know a way to make it work? There's lots of aviation gauges so it'd be cool to be able to use them with good data.

Thanks,
Brett
  • Hi Brett,
I think there is no easy way.
The FitSDK offers some functionality to create csv from fit Files. The code is open and you could make it the other way around.
But from my point of view, it is not very easy. Beside the fact, that some data is missing after the convertation (For example my OBD Data).
Maybe it is easier to convert the csv into a gpx file? The stock GPX format doesn´t have much more then GPS data, either. But Its allowed to enhance it with GPX-Extensions, like Garmin does.

    Good luck!

    conversion software

    Hi Brett,

you might try one of these programs.

    TCX Converter
    JaVaWa RTWTool

Both can import CSV and export to gpx, I am not sure if all fields will be or can be included.
TCX Converter can also export to fit.

    good luck!
  • Thanks guys, I'll give them a shot and see how i go!
