How to use different Type of Overlays in One Video

Hi

Please can someone comment ?

I would like to change my video overlays during my video and export it with the different overlays .

example only first half should have different overlays then middle etc.

When I change the overlay in the middle of the movie it changes it for the whole movie?

example: would like to use different speed gauges during my video, when you remove one and put a different gauge in the middle of video it removes the previous from first half of video?
  • While I haven't tried it. I would expect you could split the total video into various segments and the use the different overlays on the different segments that you have created.

I do know when putting consecutive raw files together the 'sound' setting from the first segment doesn't carry over to the second segment - the sound level has to be set for each segment.

    Thanks for the reply mmi16,

I have tried that, when combining the videos the overlay that is on the first videos overrides the next video , thus ending up with one overlay for the whole video.... not what would like...
have my garmin mounted on the front of bike and rear , so dont want the overlay the same for the two views....
  • You can disable the new overlay for the already "overlayed" video.
Select the video and there is a checkbox in the G-Metrix Tab.

    Hi HerrRiebmann,

yes, but why would i want to disable the overlay? then i could just as well have bought a gopro with no overlay?

i want different overlays for my rear and front camera views combined in one video.

I have made two different videos but as soon as i combine the two vids the first overlay will supersede my second video overlay.

    hope i make sense

    thanx
  • I've accomplished that by exporting each clip with the gauges I want. Then, import those clips into VIRB Edit and combine them to create the final video.

    Yes you want exactly that...

You create video1 (f.e. front) with your overlays. Then save and export it.
Afterwards, you create video 2 (rear) and also add the gauges you´d like. Now you can add Video1 to video2 and the gauges will be mixed up.
Onclick video1 and disable the gauges there.
Then you have a result with different overlays in both videos. It´s one step less then vic_06 approach.
