Media Library organization

Surely we're not expected to download every clip from the Virb into one directory. I have just started using Virb Edit and already can see formidable problems with just this issue. 100's of clips in one folder. How does anyone keep them organized?

One YouTube video I watched must have been the previous version - 2.? - it had a much better screen layout. In that video the presenter mentioned creating folders right in Virb Edit. Where did that functionality go?

If I've missed something I'm sure someone will let me know. :)

Some time ago in this forum a question was asked about dockable windows for multi-screen desktops. No one responded. I'd like to pose the question again.

As a new user of Virb Edit myself, I don't see Virb Edit being an application to manage a growing video library. My take is to use it to get the overlays and any other info you want in the video rendered, then either archive or delete the raw footage. I then keep the final rendered files organized in my video library manually via file name date time prefixes. You can always re-import an archived video file as long as the name stays the same, and Virb Edit's database will still have the G-Metrix data for it.

In the latest update adding the database backup/restore feature, it is taking a step in the right direction.

I see your point and totally agree. My previous video editing has been done with a number of different programs, the last being Magix X3. I'm too used to that software handling all the files, folders, edits, etc.

With Magix I could leave the editing environment and return at any time and continue but with Virb Edit it seems I must drop every clip that I want to use onto the timeline because once I leave the actual editing to add G-metrix I can't return to add another clip or maybe I can and have goofed up somewhere.

I'm mainly using this so far to capture some video of geocaching hikes. Love the ability to drop in Lat/Long. I just wish the Virb would grab the satellites a little quicker.
