Calculate Values for Display Overview

Dear Experts,

I posted this a year ago but get no response.

I use garmin virb XE with obd data for race tracks - works excellent!

I now want to display the Gear. For that i need to know:
Is there a possibility to calculate values?
I have: RPM and speed (from obd) and gear box ratio (from technical data) for every gear x1 to x6
I want: If speed divided by rpm = x1 display text "Gear 1" and this for every gear

Is this possible? I think this must be answered by some garmin programmers.

Thx

Chris

Unfortunately we do not support the display of gear information from OBD2 data.
  • Isn't gear position one of the values that is contained in OBD2 data? Just a matter of data capture, not data calculation?

No expert in OBD2 - just know it presents more data than a non-engineer layperson can comprehend.

    Dear Falagar,

i know that gear box is no obd data.
Therefore i want to calculate it, out of the speed data and rpm data.
Is this possible in th virb edit overlay?
    Like
IF speed divided by rpm = 3,6 THEN Display Text "Gear1"
    and so on.
    Is this possible?

It's theoretically possible, but not currently implemented.

This would be different for different cars, I assume, so it would have to be modifiable by the user.

It is a very interesting idea, and we'd have to flesh out the algorithm a bit.

We'll keep this in mind, but currently this is not supported. Sorry.
