Horiontal noise lines

Was doing some recording today after about 30 minutes (into the 2nd digital file) my recording developed horizontal colored 'noise' line for the remainder of the 43 minute recording.

What is happening?

This could be anything, if you provide additional info someone may be able to help you figure out what's going on.

Which Camera (VIRB Elite, VIRB Basic, VIRB X, VIRB XE)?
    Camera Mode (NTSC/PAL)?
    Camera Resoultion (1080p, 720p, etc..)?
    Framerate (30fps, 60fps, etc..)?
What micro SD Card are you using (SanDisk - Ultra 32GB microSDHC Class 10 Memory Card, etc..)
Is the camera updated to the most current firmware?

    VIRB Elite
    NTSC
    1080p
    30fps
    Sandisk 32GB

Don't know the level of firmware - received the camera as a replacement of a defective VIRB Elite from Garmin on 10/31/15.

From experience using the Elite it could be two things In my opinion. It may be your SD Card is too slow, not all Sandisk sd cards are created equal, some are optimized for cell phones, some for photos, some for music, some for video, etc..

Or you could be running an old firmware, most products nowadays have a newer firmware before you even open the packaging. Enter the VIRB Elite menu and select Setup>System>About, the most current firmware is 4.0 (http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=6565). I'd try another sd Card and update your firmware, if you're still seeing the issue after that you may need to contact product support.

I'd try updating the firmware and if that doesn't work try a different sd card. Most current firmware is 4.0, this can be checked in the Menu (Setup>System>About).
  • Firmware is 4.0

Made a short clip today. No noise lines. Same SD card as yesterday. Will see how things turn out in the future.
  • Made a long clip on a 64GB card - Noise began about 40 minutes into the clip and got progressively worse until the battery died after 2 hours 20 minutes.
