We are happy to announce that VIRB Edit 3.3.0 Beta is available.

You can download it at http://static.garmin.com/desktop-chandler/virbedit/installers/Virb_3.3.0.1.exe.

This version upgrades your database, so any changes you make in 3.3 will not be visible in 3.2. That means that you can try it out without risking your 3.2 data, because you can always roll back.

Please give it a try, we are mostly interested in your playback and export experience. We really appreciate your feedback.

This is the change list:

Added support for merging G-Metrix data from different sources (like adding cadence from an Edge to VIRB X acceleration).
Added support for exporting files greater than 4GB on Windows 7 (was already working on 8 and 10).
Added support for importing files greater than 4GB.
Added support for choosing between FIT speed, calculated 2D and 3D speed.
Added elevation data to GPX export.
Re-added time display to G-Metrix Sync and Activity Start Time pages.
Improved reliability and performance for displaying G-Metrix.
Improved usability and reliability of Garmin Connect integration.
Improved start-up time for users with lots of clips.
Improved speed of loading G-Metrix templates.
Fixed an issue where gauges weren't exported in the correct language.
Fixed an issue where part of the video was cut off in edit mode.
Fixed various other bugs.
  • Another thing I've just noticed is that the audio is out of sync with the video. In this example the audio towards the end of the video (~2hrs in) was running earlier than the video by 30 seconds to a minute. This is the case for the video exported on Max and High quality. It's very easy to compare the video in Virb Edit (which plays correctly) with the exported video (which is out). I've checked the export in both Media Player and Premiere Elements and they're both consistent with the result.

    Cheers,
    Brett
  • Regarding issue #3 I identified above - last night I imported a new set of videos from the XE and tried to create a video. The G-metrix was completely empty to the point it had a red line through the icon on the clips in the timeline (indicating no data). It did import the fit files, but can't find any data in it.

    Request for aditional features

Please add the following features (or I can say actually very basic functions) into the Virb Edit, hopefully you can add it into 3.3.0 release version:

    1. Media Library: List view and table/detail view mode, so we can see the full filename instead of clip preview grid mode cannot see the filename immediately. If you have so many clips already, grid view is not good.
    2. Media Library: More sort options, currently only in 'day' and 'month'. Related to no. 1 above, if we can see it in list or table view, we can sort it by filename, date, size, etc.
    3. Media Library: Ability to rename more than one clips at once, example let's say I have clips named my-trips_nnnnn, I can rename it to my-last-week-trips_nnnnn.
    4. Media Library: If you rename the storage location folder name, the clips in Media Library will be lost their link. Then you change the clip/photo storage location in Settings to the new location, the clips still remain unlink, you have to rename it manually, one by one. Imagine you have thousands of clips, rename it one by one is not possible. Virb Edit must be able to re-link automatically in this case. I believe other users also have this experience.

Please consider those functions, I think those are very basic functions. Thanks.

    windows 10

    Hi Falagar

After installing windows 10 Virb Edit opens but does not play the video. I installed the version https://download.microsoft.com/download/7/F/2/7F2E00A7-F071-41CA-A35B-00DC536D4227/Windows10-KB3010081-x64.msu but it did not work.I downloaded the 3.3.0.1 version of Virb Edit and the problem continues. What do I need to correct?

Did you try updating your video card drivers directly from the card's manufacturer? Usually ATI, nvidia or Intel.
  • I've just installed 3.3.1 and had a very quick look at it.

    Here are my first impressions:
    1) The G-metrix bug appears fixed! The only downside is that all videos require me to manually load the g-metrix files and the overlays (whatever I had used previously has been lost). That's a minor inconvenience and not an issue for new videos. It's great to see this fixed!
    2) The mapped network drive is working again for selecting the location of Virb videos.
    3) Projects are pretty quick to load.

Without trying to export anything, so far it's looking like a good version!

    Cheers,
    Brett

Glad to hear it! Thanks again for the beta testing you provided. It was very helpful in making this a solid release.

I just tried to edit a video this morning (Dec. 13th at 12:00PM PST) and the G-Metrix wasn't showing even though it's all there in the Garmin file. All fields that I use (HR, Speed, Cadence) don't show at all.
