Virb Edit: No import, no new clips

Hi

The problem is the following:
- Virb Edit 3.2.0 is successfully installed and started
id 8235ff72-5ba5-48da-8f0c-f7a6cb0e9f00
had a crash report once and sent it.

- it sees no "new clips and images", when camera is plugged, while it sees the camera itself
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/94395558/virb.jpg

- when trying to "import other" - the import process passes, but no clips and photos appear in the gallery
No matter if i "copy" them or "import only".
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/94395558/10-2-2015%2012-31-54%20PM.avi

No crashes, no error messages. Just not working. Silently.

Win8.1 enterprise 64x, WinMediaPlayer 12
No problems with free space (23Gb available) on the PC or with userrights (admin).

    I have the same problem

I use a MAC with OS X El Captain and from today I have experienced the same problem.

The import process goes much too fast, compared with what is the normal speed. And no objects are really imported. Even if the program tells me that the objects are imported.

So if anyone have a solution....! Great!

I am very sorry to hear that this isn't working for you.

The piece about it not working on the Mac is very interesting. That, plus the fact the 'Import Other' also doesn't work would indicate something is wrong with the files itself.

Is there any way you could share one of the video files with me? Dropbox maybe, or OneDrive?

    np, here is it
    https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/94395558/VIRB0047.MP4
but the video is absolutely ordinary and taken by Virb Elite cam.
I would expect more problems with Win Enterprise edition specifics or some specific permission conflicts rather then video file.

BTW I've managed to install Virb Edit to the other PC (Win10) and the other videos from the same cam (with settings not changed) was imported\edited\exported with no problems.

Thank you! I was just going down that path because you mentioned on issue on the Mac as well which uses a very different video pipeline.
  • Any updates ?

I've narrowed this bug down to only occurring when attempting to import to a clip library hosted on external media (in my case a Seagate expansion drive.) Importing directly to my Macbook Pro's internal HD works fine.

Bottom line though - I've been having the exact same problem as you when attempting to import media on both the 3.2.0 and 3.3.0 versions of Virb Edit on OS X El Capitan. Basically Virb Edit sees the new media, but then after selecting which media to import, the software flys through the importing dialogue and nothing actually gets added to the library. Very frustrating.

Personally, I'm about to give up on Virb Edit for importing - as the only utility it provides is for more seamless pairing up my .FIT files/GMetrix with the video. I'd much rather just manually copy my new media directly from the device to the storage location and have more granular control of where things are going.

We just fixed a bunch of El Capitan issues, so hopefully this will work better in the final 3.3 release.
