Virb Edit 3.2: "There was an error playing the video"

My Dell XPS 8500 is pretty standard and meets the requisitions and passes direct X tests. I get this message for all imported videos from my Virb Pro. The files play fine in WMP and other programs.

Attached are my direct x diagnostics, system info, and codec info from Windows Media Player.

Files play fine on my Mac using 3.0.

Help!

Your system appears to be more than good enough to support VirbEdit. Can you PM me your playback logs, found in %TEMP%/VirbEdit/<current version>
One thing that jumps out at me is (if I am reading your files correctly ) you have 2 graphics cards. Are you running a dual monitor set up with each monitor serviced by a different video card? Does is matter which monitor you try to play on? Did you switch which monitor VirbEdit was in after you started, or maybe expanded it into both at once? I confess we have not been able to test VirbEdit with a dual graphics card set up, so there may be some oddities there we have never addressed. You might try disabling one of them from the Windows device manager and see if that makes any difference. Let me know what you find out.

Virb Edit 3.2 There is an error playing your video

Purdington, thanks for the quick reply.

I have one physician graphics card with two monitors. There are two drivers, including the "VNC Mirror Driver" for remote access. Another PC in my house has 3.2 and VNC and works fine, but I use it as a backup agent.

I can't see how to attach files, but I did see this consistently in each log file created when I got the error:

Run starting at 9/22/2015 3:14:29 AM
3:14:29 AM Info **************Creating playback providers**************
3:14:29 AM Info VirbEdit Version: 3.2.0.8
    3:14:29 AM Error src\impl\MediaTypeUtils.cpp line 255 HRESULT -2147024662

    Please advise. Thanks.
  • I had the same issue with my PC and Virb 3.2.0. After updating to the latest NVIDIA driver, the Problem was solved. Perhaps it helps you too?

    Best regards

Virb Edit 3.2: "There was an error playing the video"

I updated my Nvidia video driver to current and tried a single monitor. I disabled the VNC remote access server agent. No change; same error. I was hoping that the diagnostics from this log file that I get every time would be a clue.

Run starting at 9/22/2015 3:14:29 AM
3:14:29 AM Info **************Creating playback providers**************

    3:14:29 AM Error src\impl\MediaTypeUtils.cpp line 255 HRESULT -2147024662

    Please advise. Thanks.
