What happened to G-Metrix Sync in VIRB Edit 3.2.0?

I can see many changes for good in VIRB Edit 3.2.0 (e.g. no more shutdowns after adding large videos) but what you have done with G-Metricx Sync? Removing the time indicators (hh:mm:ss) from movie vs map/track window makes VIRB Edit 3.2.0 nearly useless for me. To sync gpx track with my video I need to manipulate time, especially in wilderness where there is no StreetView coverage. Now in 3.2.0 it's a Russian Roulette. Please do me a favor and bring the time indicators back under both video and map windows.
Besides that other gpx values (speed, height or direction) changing¬ while moving along the timeline under gpx/map window would be a good feature too. It would be much easier to sync gpx with video when it's hard to find the exact location on the map (no StreetView, forest terrain without characteristic locations).
  • Yes,

I'm a new user and that was my biggest problem, too.

I posted some more suggestions how this could be managed here:

That was not intentional. We'll put it back in 3.3.

    I apologize for the trouble.

    G-Metrix Sync does not save

I've got a Garmin VIRB Elite with firmware software version 4.00. Today I installed VIRB Edit 3.2.0 and with the G-Metrix Sync things got worse compared to previous versions. I enter the synchronization screen and face the situation that changes are not saved at all. And additionally the time was really useful especially if you want to sync a video around 1 or 2 minutes.

Generally I'm using the Garmin VIRB Elite on the race track and every single video needs a manual synchronization. Not even one video is correct by default and I'm wondering if my camera could be broken? If yes, I would buy a new one if the problems are gone afterwards.

Hope version 3.2.1 or 3.3.0 will come really soon!

When can we expect the new version as G-Metrix Sync is all but useless without it? At the moment my work flow forces me to export multiple clips from Virb Edit to compile a single video file, import this file back to Virb Edit and use G-Metrix Sync to overly the gps data, then export this new clip to iMovie (or export and import back to Virb Edit) to trim it down to something I can share online. The last step, which is just as time and storage consuming as the other steps, is only required to ensure you have the full course track on the overlay. Bringing back the timing feature of G-Metrix Sync would save a lot of time and a more efficient way of retaining the full course track would be welcome.
  • Here's my workaround...

Agree G-Metrix Sync in version 3.2 is absolutely useless and pretty much non-existent! Please bring this feature back and release >3.2 version ASAP.

I am running a MAC using 10.11.1 OS and Garmin Virb Edit 3.2. I went back to an older backup of my machine from a while back and found v2.7 GVE installed. I copied it over to my current MAC applications folder and "Kept Both Versions". I launched v2.7, synced up my video to the correct time/location and saved the project. I then launched v3.2 GVE and edited the project with all the good new stuff in v3.2.

    Cloogy, but works pretty well!
