GPX file not exported in version 3.0.2 (150605.0857)

Hi,

After updating to Version 3.0.2 (150605.0857) I can no longer see the GPX file of the exported video.
Is this a bug or I am missing something?

Thanks,
Stan
  • Stan,

Will right clicking on your clip in the media library, clicking "Get Info > GPS Info > GPS Log: Export" get you the GPX file you want here?

The GPX file we were exporting previously was actually a complicated mix of all of your GPS data and a bunch of video-specific stuff no one used. We figured that our users just wanted the original GPX file recorded by their VIRB, instead. If we were wrong about that, please tell us!
  • GPX Needed

You were wrong. I need the GPX file. I use it for work and it doesn't take up much space. Also, if I want to edit the file later I can add the gpx to the file for later editing.
  • Hi,

Yes the GPX export of the edited video is very useful, +1 to get it back into Virb Edit

  • Thanks for the feedback, guys! Hopefully we'll be able to get you that feature back soon.

[edit: And I'd like to clarify that we didn't remove this feature because we got bored! It'll take a fair hunk of work.]
  • Missing the GPX in the export have severely complicated my work process, this in addition to that the GPX is deleted from the device when importing the videos. I wouldn't mind that the GPX are removed from the device as long as I got them on export.

Also current situation doesn't allow me to trim the clips as I am depending on GPX being in sync with video.

"Get Info > GPS Info > GPS Log: Export" only produces FIT files, is that correct? If so, I'd really like "export as GPX" function in future Virb Edit. The mapping program I'm using requires GPX files, and being able to get GPX files is the main reason I bought the Virb X.

  • For Elite, you get a GPX for the time the time you were recording a clip and a FIT for the whole time the camera was on.

For X/XE you currently only get FIT. However, we are working on getting GPX export back in.
  • Once the feature is restored, will the exported GXP file also contain the data recorded from an ODB adapter?
  • old version download please

For work.....Yes we use the gps track to identify the location the video clips were taken....we need one clean track specific to the video thats on file.... This has severly disrupted my work flow! Can you please send me a download for the previous version for Mac untill you guys get this iorned out? This is a pretty severe oversight....considering the GPX data is the reason we have 8 virbs.....
  • Base camp

Another option eould be to overhaul bade camp.... Thus you click on a track and it plays the video associated wit that track....link it to google earth... Then you have a serious tool for small companies that require GIS....

This system had serious GIS Potentional ..... And it would be a shame not to capitalize on these new customers with as close as you guys already are..
