Titles Problem When Movie Exported to MP4

I'm creating a video in Virb Edit, but I'm having trouble with the Titles feature. The movie has six different titles, which come in and fade out sequentially. The problem is that, while this works properly in the Editing window in Virb Edit itself, the titles don't appear properly when the video is exported to MP4 (and same when uploaded to YouTube, as that’s done in MP4 format). When the movie is exported to MP4, all the titles are mashed together, on top of each other, instead of appearing in sequence as intended. The first five of the titles are in the first clip of the movie. So, am I missing something; or is Virb Edit not capable of putting more than one title in a clip; or something else?

Virb Edit version 3.0.1
OSX ver 10.10.3

Here’s info on the titles as I have set them up (sorry, not able to get this info into a nice table format):
Clip Start Dur. Fade Font Size
1 0:02 4 1 Chalkboard SE 120
1 0:09 3 1 Chalkboard SE 80
1 0:15 4 1 Chalkboard SE 160
1 0:20 3 1 Chalkboard SE 70
1 0:24 5 1 Chalkboard SE 70
10 3:46 5 1 Chalkboard SE 100
  • Well, I found the answer in this post by PAXTER1 (post #15). A very strange bug in Virb Edit makes "all of the titles show up for the duration of any clip in your video that has no G-Metrix data attached to it." The workaround is just to attach any G-Metrix data to the clip. So even though my video was shot on the water, I attached to it an arbitrarily selected FIT file from a bike ride recorded on my Edge 510, and then selected "Hide Overlays". That worked.

    Titles for deleted clips

Similar but different problem. I'd added a title to clip that I subsequently deleted (the clip not the title). The title is not visible in the edit but appears permanently when exported to MP (thus ruining the whole video!). The title is there as an entry in the title edit feature but is not selectable and so cannot be deleted. A bit more testing or a perhaps a Beta release so people know they are using at risk please!.
  • nameless: it sounds like the same bug, but for a title that's past the end of your video. We typically scoot your titles to keep them from "falling off the back" of your video when a clip is deleted, but it looks like that can fail.

The workaround that KRECTR linked should work for your issue as well. If you want to delete that title you could add footage to your video until the title is once again selectable/deletable. We'll have a go at reproducing these issues here and see what we can do to fix them. Thanks for the report, and sorry for the problems!
