  • Trouble getting the rights to download Virb Edit for Mac / IPAD

    Sounds great

I just bought the Virb Elite for my daughters 11 years birthday and hence I still have to be the "family tech guy.

I have tried to load Virb Edit from the American site but gets an errormesage stating that I need OS Maverick X or newer.
Furthermore Safari can load form the current archive ?

I have asked Garmin support for a link to the app store bu the send me links to Itunes (??) and that links forwards in the end to the Garmin site in US, so it goes in circles.

    1) Any ideas if it's possible at all to get Virb Edit for IPADs
    2) Is it aviceable to load it for Mac considering the storage needed for keeping the edited videos ? (i guess the answer is no...but perhaps you have experiences in that direction)

I just updated to the latest version of Virb Edit, on my latest update for my Virb Elite and have the most updated version of Yosimite:

Biggest issue: titles are not working for me. They show fine in the preview, but when you export them they all get merged together through the whole video.

Annoyance: Uploading to YouTube didn't work, I logged in... it seemed weird because it didn't let me drop down for category but I went ahead and uploaded anyway and it was stuck on step two and the status bar did not move at all. Then when I clicked to save the converted file that would have been uploaded to YouTube it didn't have any of the titles (let alone the overlap issue which I didn't know about yet).

Here is a screenshot of what's going on:

    Titles:
In my testing, it looks like the bug is that all of the titles show up for the duration of any clip in your video that has no G-Metrix data attached to it. Obviously that's a pretty bad bug and we'll be looking into it, but does that match what you're seeing? I want to be sure we're talking about the same bug here. You could temporarily work around this by adding a GPX or FIT file of some arbitrary activity as the G-Metrix data for any clip that has this problem. You can click the "Hide Overlays" checkbox on the G-Metrix tab to keep that from actually showing any data, but your titles should still display.

    YouTube:
if the category dropdown doesn't work, that would indicate that we're failing to fetch it from YouTube for some reason. Does loading YouTube in a web browser and dragging your exported video into it to upload work?
  • JESPERERNST: You'll need to upgrade your mac to OSX Yosemite to use Mac VIRB Edit. It's a free upgrade from the App Store, but you may want to check the OS's minimum requirements before upgrading to be sure that it will work well for you.

Re "titles are not working for me. They show fine in the preview, but when you export them they all get merged together through the whole video"

I have a similar issue -so I removed all the titles that were in the title editor but still had a one title rendered all the way though the MP4. I believe the title left was attached to a clip I subsequently removed. The title is visible in the editor but not selectable and not deletable. 2 hours edited to 4 mins so not inclined to do it all again - any ideas on a quick fix?
  • Yep. I updated my software on my virb and somehow it turned off GPS collection and I didn't know it so none of my footage had GPS data :(
  • TEAMCOLTRA that sounds like a firmware issue you may want to report over in the VIRB forum! I hope that titles workaround worked for you.
  • nameless:
Reposting the titles workaround bolded. It was a bit buried in that block of text before:

  • Flipped video bug on Mac while performing manual GPS Sync

    Hi -

I shoot my video on a Virb basic mounted in an upside down position. There is a 180 degrees rotation option to correct this in Garmin Edit v3.0.1 and I use a Mac running 10.10.3 Yosemite.

However in the G-Metrix Sync option, the video plays "unflipped" in its original state when performing a manual GPS Sync, making it impossible to match with GPS/map data because it plays upside down. The video being edited remains flipped and it is just in the "GPS Sync" screen that the error appears to occur.

Is this a known bug and will a fix be released?

    Many thanks.
