Time lapse and GPS/ANT+ data synchronization

Hello,

I bought a Virb Elite a few days back, took it flying and recorded a video with Time Lapse. However the GPS data doesn't match up, the issue is I can't even align it because if I do, the track appears to be just 1 second long, my average speed seems to be phenomenal (see screen shot attached below)

If I examine the gpx file with an editor, it shows everything is fine, giving me my correct speeds, my altitudes, everything.

After connecting the Camera, I was offered an Upgrade, first to 2.6, then to 4.0 - could the outdated firmware be the reason for the issues? If so, is there any way I can correct it? Thanks.

  • There was a firmware bug that caused your GPX log to be split whenever a photo was taken. Did you take any photos?

As a manual fix for that issue, you could try digging through the FIT files on your VIRB Elite to find the one that was written while that video was recording. The FIT files represent the entire time your VIRB Elite was turned on, so it will be more of a pain to align than if your GPX file was in good shape, and only the GPX file on a VIRB Elite has G-force data, unfortunately. Hopefully this helps you out, though, and future recordings should align automatically now that you've updated.
