Hi all,
Here is the problem I have had for a while and I think it would be great if it could be fixed :
The files (Video and GPX) used are all available on this dropBox shared Link : AllFolder
Original MP4 : OriginalMP4 (600MB)
Original GPX : OriginalGPX
Video Edited and after export MP4 : AfterExportMP4 (340MB)
Video Edited and after export GPX : AfterExportGPX
START
A video is recorded with the Garmin Virb Elite, GPS on.
The video is imported in Garmin Virb Edit (MacOs 2.9.2) and the video looks very nice with all the sensors working ( Speed, Altitude, Time, GPS coordinates, …)
You can look at the issue in following the same steps :
Open Virb Edit → Create a New Video → Import the MP4 file → Add the GPS data.
Original MP4 : OriginalMP4 (600MB)
Original GPX : OriginalGPX
This should look like this : PicFlight01
We don’t want to keep all the footage so we cut the video in 5 parts.
This should look like this : PicFlight02-Split
We now delete the 2nd and 4th part and we only keep the 1st, 3rd and 5th
This should look like this : PicFlight03–Cut
When we move the cursor on the map, it is working perfectly, at the end of the first part it will jump to the next part, same thing all the way to the end, keep the time properly, everything is perfect
This video show how it is : VideoFlight02-Split
Now we want to export this edited video because we want to use it later on in another project. So we Select the “NONE” Overlay to have a clean video and we Click Export
This should look like this : PicFlight04-CleanOverlayBeforeExport
2 Files are exported in a folder, the GPX file and the MP4 file :
Flight after Export.gpx
Flight after Export.mp4
The Export Folder : PicFlight05-FolderAfterExport
Now we want to create a new project and use the video we have exported, so we are going back to the Video Gallery and we Create a new video.
We import the MP4 file we have exported before (AfterExportMP4) and then we Add the GPS data manually using the GPX file previously exported (AfterExportGPX).
Here is a video of how I did it : Flying-ImportAfterExport
As you can see the GPS data is not synchronized at all.
The track look good with only part 1, 3 and 5 visible but the Video doesn’t match the GPS data and the project is unusable.
To get this fixed should make the management of multiple projects much easier, especially if we want to share our projects to other VIRB Edit program installed on other computers.
It would be great if someone could check that I am not doing anything wrong.
Please Mr Garmin Virb Edit, could you please have a look at this issue ?
thank you,
Xavier
