Can I edit the Preview Overlay or substitute my Custom Overlay?

While I'm getting my first look at a clip in Virb Edit, I want to view information that is not presented in the overlay that comes up automatically. An example is temperature readings from a Tempe sensor.

I realize that I can Export any clip with the overlay of my choice and then view the information that I choose, but the time required to do the Export is NOT trivial.

I'll also admit that I'm not having much luck finding documentation for Virb Edit.

Can anybody square me away about my overlay question?

Thanks!
  • Got it!

There's nothing like submitting a question in public to make you think of the answer, is there? :)

    Here's what I did:
    - Open Virb Edit.
    - Find the clip in the Clip Library.
    - Click on Create Video.
    - Assign a dummy name to the created video.
    - Click the Overlays button at the bottom of the screen.
    - Select the Custom category and click on your overlay.
    - Click the Play The Full Video button.

The selected clip will play full-sized using the Overlay you select. You can test an Overlay change without saving it first.

Once you've made a video, you can also click on it in your video gallery to preview it inside of VIRB Edit, without being in edit mode.
