Weird, when I try installing (even version 2.0) it says I need OS 10.7.

Got my hands on a computer with OS10.7 and installed 2.5.2.

Is there a version thats supposed to work with OS10.6?

Unlikely. VIRB Edit is less than a year old (the VIRB came out in early November last year). I think Mavericks came out around this time last year, so before the VIRB, and I think that's when Apple dropped support for 10.6. Current Garmin software seems to only support the OS X's that Apple does, and that doesn't include 10.6, which was released in 2009.
