How to get GPS data back when re-importing an accidentally deleted clip?

Hi,

I accidentally deleted a clip from the bottom window when I mean to delete it from the timeline. When the software deleted the clip, I think it gave me the option to retain the original file or remove it (but unfortunately didn't give me an "opppsss... cancel, i didn't mean to do this" option). So I chose retain the original clip and re-imported it but there is no GPS information.

Anyone know the steps to get that data re-merged with the video clip?

Or was it deleted even though the clip wasn't?

Thanks,
Brad.

Deleting the clip allows you to cancel during both the initial delete action and the "do you want to move this to the trash or just remove it?" phase of the action. Clicking the "Cancel" button in either of those states will leave your clip in VIRB Edit's library, unharmed.

Deleting a clip from VIRB Edit removes everything but the video file from your system. The simplest way to get the GPX file back at this point is to re-import it from your device, if you do have it still, and then clicking "Add GPS" after clicking the clip in the edit timeline.
  • Thanks - I must have missed the cancel option... I tend to do things very hastily.
