Found out something interesting about the Remote activated Burst Photo mode in the camera. If the camera's set to Burst mode, pressing the Photo button on the Remote results in three pictures in rapid succession.
Strangely enough, the Burst mode is supposed to take 5 pictures normally.
There's not much change in the following three pics, but Burst mode might get that perfect shot someday...
the last VIRB Elite made 5 pictures in a burst, the current one I have not tested that. I would like the seperation time between the pictures somewhat larger. Or even better a mode that a picture is taken every 0.5, 1, 1.5, 2, 5, 10 seconds.
According to some reviews, the settings of the camera have an effect on the number of pictures it will take in Burst mode. So if it's set to 16Mp, it'll be fewer pictures than 8Mp. And I think that's the case here - just checked and the camera I used yesterday is set to 16Mp.
Your idea about having more time between shots is interesting.
The camera does have a Timer/Interval mode where it will take photos at intervals like you suggest, but unfortunately you can't start that mode from the Remote. It only takes one picture even if the camera is set to Interval Mode.
There already is such a mode. Self Timer does repeat pictures every 2, 5, 10, 30, or 60 s. Set the time interval, hit the select button and it will ask you if you want to repeat or not. I've used it a couple of times, now, and it works fine, although it's a little worrying the first time or two to see the screen freeze as it shows you the still it just took.:p
You can't do anything about the timing in Burst mode, though, so far as I know.
Ouch, you mean the still button on the Remote (and the VIRB remote function on the Edge 800 and Fenix?) doesn't do exactly the same thing as the still button on the VIRB itself? That's really annoying. I'll have to remember that.
