VIRB Elite DST bug?

Anyone else having problems with their VIRB Elite after daylight savings arrived last night? All of the video/stills I took today are labeled in EST rather than EDT. I tried changing from "Automatic" to "Manual" selection of time zone and the DST flag (in my case, "US East" and "Yes"), and back again to "Automatic" and made sure I got a GPS lock, and it still displays Eastern Standard Time. I remember we had time zone problems back in November when the Elite first came out. They strike again. I can fix things in stills with touch and exiftool, but I'd rather not have to.

The annoying thing remaining about the Elite is that you can't calibrate it. You can't set the time manually, can't set the altitude manually, and can't set wheel size with a speed/cadence sensor.
  • Hi Schnider,

Can you connect your VIRB to your Mac or PC and see if a TimeZone map is available for your device? You can use both WebUpdater or Garmin Express to achieve this update. If so, you may need to update your TMZ map in order to correct the DST settings on your device. Let me know if this helps resolve your problem.
  • Apparently the post I made this morning from my iPhone didn't make it. This problem resolved itself this morning. It seems to take several minutes of continuous GPS lock before the VIRB attempts to reset its clock. The ~ 1 minute at a time I had it locked yesterday apparently wasn't enough. Anyway, I had it on continuously for several minutes this morning. When it first locked, it still showed EST. After a few minutes I looked down and it was showing EDT.
  • Thanks, SCHINDER. Even when the blinking GPS signal on the ViewFind is solid it might take a second for it to get a real solid lock. Glad to hear you are up and running.
